Crypto will never be widely adopted, unless a new idea changes it, like AI. I'm pretty sure that won't happen as well because the ecosystem is trash and if people with Vitalik's IQ can't figure it out, we're done. There is no economic incentive, everyone who thinks so is a retard. Long term (10 year basis) it will always go up because of it's scarcity, speculation and utility for some. Just like gold but the pumps and dumps may happen faster. Stocks will always be a better long term investment, risk wise and profit wise. I don't know for sure what's gonna happen in the rest of 2018 though. On the other hand, we won't be able to dump forever, even with big money cashing out there's a lot of new action which means the lows have to be higher.
We can dump over all of 2018 if it dumps slowly like it is now, some pumps and some dumps with low volatility on bitcoin and high volatility on alts, which I think it's the most likely scenario. If it dumps fast (or doesn't dump at all, which would be weird after the latest alt pumps) we can see some gains later in the year, I don't see it going to $20k though

Everything in this market is measured in sats and hence depends on the price of BTC. The price of BTC will eventually go up, though it could be as long as 3-5 years before we see 20k again. The glory days are done. Also, in that time, a bunch of vaporware alts will hit 0.

The market remains highly speculative.

What would you do if you were large company that missed the boat on the most revolutionary moment since the dot.com era. You would crash the shit out of it and get in early. Heck, I talked to a buddy of mine high up in one of the largest oil companies in the world. One of their main R&D is blockchain. CEOs of bluechips are quitting their jobs to lead blockchain, AI and robotics, IOT, renewables, and general tech startups. We're in the third digital revolution and crypto will go down hard so these guys can also ride the wave.

The volatility, 24/7 trading, lack of regulation, and manipulation is why it won't be adopted as the world currency. Solve these issues and it might. The current central banking system needs to be put to rest, but crypto is not at a point where it an do that.

It is not mainstream like people on biz think it is. Oh Ellen talked about bitcoin? Cool dude. It's still not being used in every retail store and major corporations have only slight interest.

The feeling is crypto will replace the USD euro etc. and everyone will be using digital money at some point in the future.

Bitcoin and the whole market is speculative assets with an idea for use cases, but it's a bunch of people trading all day long. So many people getting fucked over when one whale decides to sell. That's not a system ready for adoption.

I cannot take these new tokens coming out. It's like crypto is being pushed too fast and it's not coded to handle it. And how can we trust any of these teams behind these projects to lead us into a world currency system without a central figure. Every coin is centralized to a group of people who code it and created it. So decentralization is partial in crypto.

Fully decentralized automated AI anonymous peer to peer electronic cash with smart contract capability and dApp building. Is that bitcoin cash? I still don't trust Craig Wright.

The reason is normal money is just good enough, not making it economically viable to make the change. People care about utility and not features. Facebook literally leaked a bunch of private data and it's stock is almost at an ATH and with more users than ever. I agree with this and what you said. The current system operates well because it's the current system that's grown since 1913. Bitcoin is a new system that came out of nowhere or maybe it didn't. It's been said it's a social experiment created by the government (the signature of SHA256 is designed by the NSA) to test the waters for this future world currency. Eventually people will not have paper money and someone will figure out how to scale it. Will bitcoin stick around or is it the beta version of what the currency will be. Google is working on blockchain and so are others. All these tokens and coins might be obliterated.

On another note, Holochain makes things interesting. They just have absolutely nobody jumping on it because it's been kept under the radar. It's the only one that says they can scale without consuming too much energy. You can build Facebook and Twitter size apps on it? Then shit that's the ticket for everyone to migrate over to Holo. I like Dan Larimer and Vitalik, but this Holo team is rather experienced. Complete decentralization away from the central banks will be tough. ((They)) aren't letting everyone become rich and happy. 1. The market will need to trade sideways for at LEAST six straight months before new money comes in
2. We’re not close to the bottom yet, BTC will scrape 3k at some point in 2018
3. Institutional investors will move in and diversify their portfolios when it’s clear the market has bottomed out
4. The market will trade sideways for a long time after bottoming out (possibly 18 months) UNLESS something new like Ethereum revolutionizes the space.

The last bull run started in late 2015 with Ethereum leading the way, and that bull run culminated in the 2017 mega run. We’ll be in a multi year bear from here.
