Make sure you get 100+ yr old rare stamps. I specialize in stamps from the 1850 - 1860 from my country. I've been collecting for 3 years, the total value of my collection if sold in current market is 3x more than i paid. However, i do buy from ebay auctions and only bought premium value stamps at non premium prices.

Its not hard to tell. although sometimes you might come across stamps that have been repaired, re-gummed or postmark washed off. complete forgeries are obvious, but most are still collectable. I have a few forgeries and they are as old as the real stamps.
Basically you learn with experience, but its not hard learn.

Read what i said.. with the right stamps, bought at the right price, you can make 100% per year easy. Smarter and safer to diversify rather than put an extra 10% in stocks that you will make at most maybe 5 - 10% but more than likely 0 - 3%.. yep.. brains jimmy. Brains.
