There are multiple servers run by many different volunteers (click the network icon to see a list), so it's unlikely to go anywhere. I use it as my main wallet.

Yes, it looks like you can just export private keys from the Electrum client (and then import anywhere else). I have not tested this though, so if you are really worried maybe you should test the process with a small amount. But it's a very popular wallet, so I'm sure if the developers and all servers went AWOL there would be info on how to recover this.

As long as you save the wallet seed, you can recover your bitcoins somehow, even if in the worst it meant hiring a programmer for a day to write you some script to do so. (Very unlikely to be necessary, though.)

If you have a lot of coins you should investigate some offline storage method! At the very least, use a dedicated laptop or mobile device to store the coins.

I'm personally looking forward to the days when my 10 bitcoins will mean I'm a member of the transnational banking elite.

>2020 Bitcoin becomes world reserve currency.
>2022 Satoshi nakamoto comes out of hiding and announces the purchase and disbandment of all national governments.
>2030 entire world runs on the sharing economy. The trappings of authoritarian control wither and die due to the power of block gain technology.
>2031 a new golden age of humanity dawns as the productive and economic power of free humanity is unleashed.
>2050 human knowledge and technology increased at an exponential rate. Faster than light travel becomes a trivial problem. Human lifespans become infinite.

Nahh buddy. Look at the stats. It's already rare to see a person owning 10 BTC. The entry level to own 10 BTC will be impossible for the average middle class person, hell it already is, who the fuck is going to spend 5000 on BTC right now unless you are decently well off.

In 10 years you are set with 10 BTC, but ideally you want to have 21 BTC because of the sweet spot (21 million total).

Damn, i got greedy and bought 2.2 extra btc when it was close to its peak today. 'Lost' 200 euro due to that.

Off course ill regain that loss in the long run but boy, do i feel like one silly investor.

Now i feel like i need to start shorttrading to somehow make up for that loss.

Lesson learnt.
