The black swan theory or theory of black swan events is a metaphor that describes an event that comes as a surprise, has a major effect, and is often inappropriately rationalized after the fact with the benefit of hindsight. The term is based on an ancient saying that presumed black swans did not exist – a saying that became reinterpreted to teach a different lesson after black swans were discovered in the wild.

Better team is creative destruction:

Creative destruction (German: schöpferische Zerstörung), sometimes known as Schumpeter's gale, is a concept in economics which since the 1950s has become most readily identified with the Austrian-American economist Joseph Schumpeter[1] who derived it from the work of Karl Marx and popularized it as a theory of economic innovation and the business cycle.

According to Schumpeter, the "gale of creative destruction" describes the "process of industrial mutation that incessantly revolutionizes the economic structure from within, incessantly destroying the old one, incessantly creating a new one".[2] In Marxian economic theory the concept refers more broadly to the linked processes of the accumulation and annihilation of wealth under capitalism.

I literally lolled. Do you seriously think that resource depletion and ecosystem collapse would lend itself to greater social sharing and less hierarchy? The world is going to go profoundly fascist, because prison logic will take over when there isn't any fucking food left and the seas are dead.
Socialism was a short lived 20th century dream when resources were abundant and we thought, for a second, that the world could actually make it. Now the Mad Max future is guaranteed it's honestly baffling to see that the right has any fear of "muh socialism". No, the future is fascist, and you're all going to realise how fucking terrible that actually is.
