one question:

HOW IS THIS BETTER THAN EOS?

>> No.9413253

>>9413204
For one thing, it’s true PoS not DPoS. Supply is limited not inflationary. Holding gives you staking rewards. Completely different technology

EOS is all in on speed and being fast to market. governance will be shit and the code is slapdash with expected results: vulnerabilities already found, more will be found. Crypto is a marathon, not a sprint

> it’s true PoS not DPoS.
Which makes it worse

>Supply is limited not inflationary.
Which means that it requires user facing gas fees like ethereum, and will therefore never appeal to normies. Imagine having to pay money to upvote or retweet...

>Holding gives you staking rewards
EOS tokens can be rented out

>Completely different technology
Yes, different in that it will be just as slow as Ethereum on launch, and their test net doesn't even have working smart contracts yet.

EOS is to Linux as ADA is to MINIX. One is being built by engineers who are trying to create a usable product. The other is being built by academics who are trying to create a shiny portfolio and increase their prestige. ADA cares about theory, EOS cares about pragmatism.

>> No.9413531

>>9413464
to be honest ADA can perform more tps than ETH. i agree with everything else though. i hold a small amount of ADA that i got for 1900 sats as a hedge to my EOS stack. it's doing fine for me so i'll just hold and see if any of these egg heads can put out a product with a particular use case that wouldn't be acceptable for other blockchains. i've heard the argument that haskell could be a better programming option for something like air traffic control or trains and shit that puts lives at risk.

Haskell is a meme language. It's one of those things that sounds great in theory, but doesn't actually work in the real world when you have millions of lines of code and dozens of coders all working on the same code base. In other words, it's just the sort of language you'd expect an academic with no real world experience to choose.

The problem with Haskell is that because of its high level nature, there are many extra layers of complexity, which creates slow, complicated, and extremely difficult to debug code, particularly when it comes to performance. On average, a Haskell program will run anywhere from 3 to 10 times slower than a C language, and memory usage is even worse. Some Haskell fanboys will always chime in and talk about how this or that is "possible" if you're a seasoned expert who knows all the little hacks and tricks in the book. But again, that's entirely theory and not how it plays out in real life.

Their choice to use Haskell was one of the initial things that lead me towards EOS.

kek, I know you won't believe me anyway but haskell is only for the part of the project

devs working on dapps don't have to code in haskell, they can use i.e. go

I understand that. But every app that runs on the platform will have a big performance disadvantage because of it, and the blockchain itself will be handicapped. Apps will be executed on the equivalent of the Java Virtual Machine. It would be like trying to build an operating system in Java. Everything else you try to run on that OS will be slow as fuck compared to an OS written in C.
