They're not bad certs, but they're stepping stone certs. Use them to get the experience in the IT field doing some lower end stuff like helpdesk while you work towards better certs. I don't have security+ but A+ and Net+ were good starting points for me.

I have the A+ and Net+ with the Security+ scheduled for next week. I've used Professor Messer and feel confident.

From here, I'm thinking MCSA or CCNA path, but it seems like everyone that is interested in certs is taking this same route.

MCSA/MCSE and CCNA open a lot of doors and a higher salary. For the Microsoft stuff you can start simple and look into the MTA, then move towards the MCSA (and earning the MCP in the process).

I have security+ and net+ and do IT for a unicorn tech co. They're low balling me so not sure how much longer I'll stick around, I'm thinking of getting AWS certs

Sec+ guarantees at least an interview with gov contract jobs. I have always been hired when I interview. I have just A+ and Sec+ with no plans to get more

Give up on the IT meme, the market is flooded with pajeets and H1Bs. Its been that way at every company I've worked at so far, I've entered a different field just to get the fuck away from being told to do the needful.
