Will getting the CompTIA A+, Network+, and Security+ help me get me a reasonably decent job?

Look up Forbes top 15 certifications

>> No.9326497

They're not bad certs, but they're stepping stone certs. Use them to get the experience in the IT field doing some lower end stuff like helpdesk while you work towards better certs. I don't have security+ but A+ and Net+ were good starting points for me.

Better certs like ccna? Mcse?

>> No.9326520

I have the A+ and Net+ with the Security+ scheduled for next week. I've used Professor Messer and feel confident.

From here, I'm thinking MCSA or CCNA path, but it seems like everyone that is interested in certs is taking this same route.

MCSA/MCSE and CCNA open a lot of doors and a higher salary. For the Microsoft stuff you can start simple and look into the MTA, then move towards the MCSA (and earning the MCP in the process).

Thanks, anon. Consider taking the Security+. The content is fascinating aside from the corporate policies fluff.

I took a class for it - quite an eye opener, but someday i'll take the test for it.

What about cloud computing or ethical hacking/penetration testing certification?

>> No.9326695

>>9326674
The Certified Ethical Hacker has such a meme name, but it's on the Forbes Top 15 certs list at right around $100k salary.

>> No.9326700

Literally only good for getting your first IT job.

>> No.9326710

I have security+ and net+ and do IT for a unicorn tech co. They're low balling me so not sure how much longer I'll stick around, I'm thinking of getting AWS certs

>> No.9326742

Sec+ guarantees at least an interview with gov contract jobs. I have always been hired when I interview. I have just A+ and Sec+ with no plans to get more

>> No.9326793

They will absolutely help, but if it's the only thing on your resume then hiring people will still know you're an unexperienced amateur. Anyone can train themselves to pass a test.

Give up on the IT meme, the market is flooded with pajeets and H1Bs. Its been that way at every company I've worked at so far, I've entered a different field just to get the fuck away from being told to do the needful.

>> No.9326902

>>9326837
That's the crappy part. I already see AWS forums flooded with pajeets getting AWS certs. I get all that shit and then they're paying Rajesh $15 an hour to do the same work. I need to make it on shitcoins

this guy has gotten so cucked by pajeets he has had to resort to gambling
what a sad world we live in

Get a government IT job. Pajeets aren't eligible for security clearances.

Fucking pajeets. I'm doing an IT diploma right now and whenever I run into a problem on Microsoft shit and I google it, 9 times out of 10 some pajeet in production is asking the question on Microsoft technet trying to figure out the same thing I am.

>> No.9327067

>>9326473
I went straight to CCNA, Network+ is a bit lower down but CCNA is not too hard. Helped me get my first job in networking.

>> No.9327159

>>9326965
topkek, yeah anon this field is watered down

>>9327045
yep, insult to injury when pajeets try recruiting me at their contracting firm

>> No.9327515

>>9327159

dude the contracting firms, I've lost count of the number of times I've answered my phone to an incomprehensible accent.
