What industry is the most stable in terms of you having job security? I work in the mortgage industry and I see constant layoffs and I want out.

Business/finance related job.

I have a college degree so no. I am not getting a blue collar job. I feel I can get a comfy office job easily as I have one right now so its not like I have 0 experience out of college. Just a years worth honestly, but that is better than nothing.

This dude knows what’s up. Craftsmen are becoming rarer due to the whole ‘every kid has to go to colege’ meme and I sincerely wish I would have learned a craft instead of my current career.

I did an accelerated bs/ms in biomes eng and I’m certain I’ll have a job my whole life. Engineering will never go away it will just get more complicated, but I’m stuck working 9-5 and still paying student loans

Not a broker but know that feel but I honestly want to get laid off so I can collect unemployment and move. I have to renew my apartment lease soon which is making me more annoyed because I know for a fact they will either lay me off months down the road or make me switch my job title and move me around company which I don't want to do.

This industry is trash because interest rates rise and then they fire people in mass. It honestly seems like it is just going to get worse.

There's a number of well known jobs where you can be your own boss, you can do as much or as little work as you like, you can charge what you want (within reason). Pic related, for instance

How long have you been in the biz? This shit happens every few years. You just need to make enough between downtrends.

Sounds like you're at a big corporate shithole. I worked at one of those once. That was fucking hell. Don't half ass it so you burn your bridges you may fomo back into the biz if/when fucked up subprime loans come back and we start making 50k a month again.

where are you located anon?

You guys need a new career, when the stock market falls, interest rates rise. right now interest rates are so fuckin low and ppl bearly getting by, wait till those flexible rate mortgages hit in...

Oh, well, you guys are not really doing anything useful anyways, just charging interest on 'money' that simply gets created on a computer, the funds are not a loan.....i hope you know that, the mortgage is a promissory note...

>How long have you been in the biz?
almost a year. I just graduated college in 2017 and this company mass hires graduates and trains them. Which sucks because they overhire people and then they fire people because of it.

I just want job security that is why I am not that fond of what is happening lately. And I am in the Philadelphia area.

I honestly want to just quit but I don't have a job lined up and I am annoyed I have to renew apartment lease soon. So I am fucked.

>almost a year.

You've only been in it during the shit times. I get solicited from new lenders every day of their new subprime dogshit programs they're rolling out. Hang in there. When this business heats up you can make a shit ton of money quickly with very little effort. It's coming back within a year. I guarantee it.

You also need a 135+ I.Q and have incredibly high drive. Plus getting into a good med school is nearly impossible in the U.S if you're white or Asian.

I've heard car sales can be extremely lucrative, but volatile. As long as you can put away enough to survive the down months (see: not YOLOing all of your money on NEO) you should make decent money.
