That was some kid who made some klind of amateur programming error that locked up hundreds of thousands of dollars of someone elses cash on the ETH chain. Pretty sure it led directly to the ETH/ETC fork.

Anyone have the cap of that successful scam, maybe six months ago? When the OP created a seemingly bad smart contract, acted like he made this massive mistake, then some poor fool completed it without reading the numbers? Fucked out of like $40K, or something.

I remember reading it a while ago and vaguely understanding what happened but now that I'm a little more experienced I can catch some nuances in the scam. Look at the OP, the way it's written, "for .003 eth ea" - OP doesn't even finish writing the words... Then he keeps bumping his thread feigning ignorance because people were ignoring the scam. He was seriously baiting that, it was actually quite obvious.

I feel like if you tried this on /biz/ now you'd get absolutely destroyed. Somebody would catch it almost instantly. I know everyone shits on nu-/biz/ but the board has grown to a point where people would either just completely ignore the scam or enough people would view the thread where someone would call it out very quickly.

Crypto seems a lot less "wild west" than it did even 6 months ago.
