Ripple's products that don't "require" the use of XRP (xCurrent) still allow you to use XRP if you want. Companies will gradually start using XRP more often as they get comfortable with the technology.

None of Ripple's products (xrapid included) require XRP. They have said they will support many digital assets.

They are levelling the playing field for everyone and if XRP is the most liquid, quickest and cheapest crypto (as it currently is) itll will dominate.

Its risky though as if some other digital asset is better in all these three areas it will likely be used in XRPs place.

XRP is optional, not required for xCurrent. This means that with a few extra mouse clicks they could use XRP. I think there is little risk of XRP not being the preferred settlement currency. 1) it's the central bank trojan horse coin and everybody knows it. 2) the banks corporations and important investors already got XRP for free or for cheap from Ripple. To not run it into the $Trillions of market cap would be stupid. 3) Few cryptocurrencies can settle in 4 seconds. 4) The Cobalt upgrade is coming soon and will bring 1-second transaction times.

I agree. XRP is only going to get better as Ripple develops it (cobalt, codius etc.). Typical /biz/ response is always to come back with "they dont have to use XRP." I think its important to acknowledge that that statement is techically correct but more likely situation is;

Xcurrent speeds payments up to a point where banks will want to use XRP to settle payments quickly (xrapid) and free up liquidity in nostro/vostro accounts. While techically they could use other digital asset in xrapid/xcurrent none are currently as liquid, cheap and fast as XRP.
