I’m increasing my btc by buying an alt coin when the price hits the bottom bollinger line, then setting a sell order at the top bollinger line. Then I just keep repeating this. Is this legit?

But ETH also swings both ways heavier than BTC, if you are good so far at swing trading shitcoins, try BTC ETH with as little as .1btc and see if that's ok.

If you look at any chart, it might hit the bottom of the BB line, rebounce at the middle line (the 20 SMA) and then go down again.
If you want to do these, add other indicators, I suggest you the Stoch RSI that help you understand when a coin is oversold and overbought.

That somehow a way that I use to trade too, so if you do it in the right way is profitable.

I think that 0.3 - 0.5 BTC is a decent size to start.
Always keep liquidity. Even if you thing that you bought a dip, there will always be an opportunity to average down and after that it should rebounce pretty fast, in the next 1D or 8hr candle.

If you are going to buy a new coin, you should first look at its chart and asses if the coin already is at the all time high or not. If it is, you wait.
One thing is certain in this market: everything, eventually goes down. Everything dips.
Don't think that you have to buy something right now just because it's high and you are afraid you are going to miss the rocket. You won't and even if you do there are 20 different coins waiting for that rocket.
