Just put a quarter of my entire savings into CHK and a 3x bull etf at the end of the day
Tomorrow may be the end of me

actually that's false claim.

3x bull has overperformed 1x s&p 500 by large margin last 60 years.

in general, depends on the index. volatility drag is mosly a bad myth when indexed. if there was a vola drag then 100% etfs would die too long term. but we all know, that's not the case at all.

it is very easy to simulate the return of 3x daily bull. even when fees are added. btw, the leverage drag also works the other way around when the market it bullish. in general, 2x bull gives you 1.4 return, not 2x.

the slight problem with 3x daily or more bulls are the damage.

if the market drops over 33% in a day, boom headshot. it's gone. but that has never happened in 100 years so. retirement funds definitely do not want to risk that.

yes, i fully agree. my point is the claim "leveraged indexes (stock index) are only very short term holdings" is somewhat flawed.

it holds true for leveraged gold and oil, but not so much for large stock indexes like s&p 500.
