What's the point of living if you are born poor?

I mean you can't enjoy yourself, do what you want and would have to slave away for 20 years to even enjoy 1/50th of the joys that the rich get to have.

Avg US Salary is 50k a year,
Avg amount of money made PER DAY by rich people is more than 50k

Are the poor born just to be slaves?
with anti-suicide propaganda and police keeping them in check?

why /biz/?

The great equalizer is that your only problem is your biggest problem.

This means that when you were born rich you have a different set of problems.

Seriously, if you just live without spending all your paycheck on stupid shit and invest the saved dosh you'd be a millionaire at the age of 50.
Read "The millionaire next door" and stop bitching.

Most Americans are batshit insane when it comes to fiscal discipline, and no one even appreciates the privilege of living in the US anymore, even though American wages are the highest in the world (except maybe meme countries like Luxemburg).
America is one of the few countries where you can actually get rich just by working a simple blue collar job.
Yes, it will require some patience and restraint - but you'll be rewarded at the end.
In other countries you toil all your life for pennies and then die in poverty. In America you actually CAN get rich. Feel the difference, fagget.
50K is a shitload of money, unless you live in Commiefornia or Jew York.

Agreed, the biggest problem right now for most Americans (Young and Old) is that they never learned any kind of responsibility with their money. Parents are shitty with their money and so their kids are shitty with their money and then they have kids and are shitty with their money. They think riding paycheck to paycheck is normal and that savings is purely to put a down payment on a big ticket item..not you know..actual savings or wealth building. And of course our own government is just as bad handing shit out instead of teaching people shit...not that they could considering the way they operate.

Post-college I got a job making the safe "50k" a year talked about in this thread. The big difference was up that point I was used to living off min wage. Sure I could of started living like I made 75k (typical American) or like I was making 50k (nevergunnamakeit American). Instead I lived like I was making 25K a year.

After a few years, I had an opportunity to quit my job and start a business, I had saved enough startup capital I was able to start small and grow, I ended up going into business with a friend who invested an equal share. Now a few years later, I work closer to 20 hours a week, making 50k a year. The rest goes back into the business and in a few more years I likely won't even need to do that much and start making more.

The reality is, I choose to start a business but even if I didn't if I continued a few more years well below my means I could easily of had a nice investment portfolio or of purchased a house, with a 100k down payment to minimize interest/bills/loans, etc.

A lot of rich people are very depressed and they deal with it through pills, heroin, coke, and MDMA. Also alcohol. Their kids are drug addicts before the age of 18. Their daughters are stereotypical daddy issue girls. Trust me a lot of rich people have the same problems as poor people. Money doesn't solve anything but gives you an illusion of security.

Can confirm.

I live in a high inflation country. There are capital controls and restrictions on owning foreign currency and stocks. You have no idea how fucking difficult it is to save money here, let alone invest. Every paycheck needs to be turned into something other than local currency because it will slowly evaporate otherwise.

You Americans are so lucky and don't even realize it. I truly don't understand how there are so many financial fuck ups there, even just by setting aside like 10% of your McDonald's paycheck every month you can slowly rise above poverty.

>> No.901170

>Avg US Salary is 50k a year

Wrong. The average salary is something like $26k. The average family income is $50K.

And define rich. To be a 1%er in most states, you only need to make something like $450K.

Fuck you OP. If you're born in Europe or America and aren't literally mentally retarded and thus incapable of the level of intelligence that even an average person can muster, then you CAN work your way up to middle class. Middle class living in a developed country is the envy of the world, and if that isn't enough for you then you can expatriate to a third world nation once you've saved/invested enough, gotten into business, or work from home, you can enjoy a cost of living that is a fraction of what it is here and you have many of the perks of being rich. Plus a Western education can net you a large income overseas where the academic institutions typically have low credibility.

wow you are one capitalist cockslobbering retard. you need all these things and a fucking car just to slave away at mcdonald's paying rent paycheck to paycheck and in many cases, it's not even enough to do that. just because we're not living in caves anymore doesn't mean we should accept whatever standard of living some billionaire banker tells us we should. the system is seriously fucked up when the entire world is at the mercy of a few 1% ridiculously richfags fucked themselves as 2008 showed

>> No.901407

Nobody said you had to slave away at Mcdonalds. You could just as easily be a bum or live off welfare or actually find a way to have a decent source of income

>> No.901413

>>901392

Listen fuckstick. Nobody is making you work at McDonald's. Nobody. In many major cities minimum wages of $15 an hour have been implemented, and any reasonable skillset such as vocational training (attainable within six to nine months) or associate's degree (attainable within two years courtesy of community college for cheap) and you're doing better than some shithead with only a Diploma or GED. It's only a short step from there to your bachelor's, and if you really don't want to work a skilled trade or hit the books there is always the military or the police force, and if you don't want to risk seeing combat it's called a tech job in the FUCKING AIR FORCE.

If you're super broke there are these special things called Pell Grants that more than pay for community college, most state university tuitions, student loans subsidized at 3% annually capped at 8k per semester which aren't due to be paid until you are out of education, the GI bill, federal loan repayment programs in case the cost gets too crazy, and scholarships out the ass for the poor.

You only get the right to have your complaints taken seriously whenever you have exhausted your options within the system, and you obviously haven't done that fuckwit.

>> No.901414

That's only funny because it's Toronto.

>> No.901482

I'm poor, but because of that I

>pay $0 for tuition because I go to a public state university and had a 3.4 in HS
>get set up with a 10 hr a week job for workstudy (and I don't have to pay taxes)
>get $195 in food stamps a month

All in all I'll end up in around 14k of debt when I graduate. But that's good considering that 70% of Americans go into debt and 28k is the average debt. When it comes to college, poor > middle class.
