Can someone please explain how longs work to a brainlet? If you open a 50x long at 8k and BTC goes to 100k, how much do you make? Can you leave your long position open for that long?

>> No.8993248

>>8992687
Well I wish you goodluck but your taking a retarded amount of risk, why not just add on to your position on 25x? you do realize that BTC could easily make a fakeout down before going up?

>> No.8993263

>>8993212
x50 would be like you putting 5 bucks down and using leverage to get access to 250. You're taking a loan out basically. You can keep your position open as long as you're in profit basically. Works the same way with shorts.

>> No.8993265

>>8993212
Contracts on Bitmex do not expire. Your position is open until you close it or are liquidated. The value of your contract depends on the entry price and mark price.

>> No.8993312

>>8993248
Look at MACD and volume, its risky but Im sure we will see a massive green dildo in the next 8 hours. I will close after that and move back to 25x til 10k

>> No.8993338

>>8993312
If I were you i'd keep that position open or add on if you're right. I think it will pump aswell but high leverage trades can still easily get liquidated and a lot of whales also push try to get high leveraged positions liquidated before making their ''final move''

>> No.8993347

>>8993312
Do you look at BTC or XBT chart?

can someone breakdown leverage trading for me? if I have 10k USD to spend, and want to go 25x, what would that mean for me? If btc went from 8300 to 9000 for example

>> No.8993461

>>8991204

You're making money but you're still stupid. Yesterday and the day before we did not have this positive sentiment.

>> No.8993513

>>8993418
Literally magnifies your gains by 25x. So youd have say 1.25 btc roughly a little less, btc goes up 700 you make 1.25x700x25

>> No.8993521

>>8993418
With 10k and 25x its like you invested 250k, 8300-9000 is maybe 8-9% up so you would have made around 22k profit

>> No.8993558

>>8993513

Sign me up. How can I make a leverage trade if im in the US?

>> No.8993597

>>8993558
Lots of people use bitmex. Gotta sign up using a different IP than US though after that doesnt matter what IP you use. Take heed though leverage also magnifies your losses so if btc goes down you will lose 25x more, 25x is pretty insane position to take.

>> No.8993644

>>8993597
>>8993521
>>8993513
what would it have to drop to liquidate me in that same scenario?

>> No.8993664

>>8993558
>>8993597
Yeah and its not so much that you can't tolerate the 25x, its just that BTC often swings very hard and 25x usually gives you 300-400$ liquidation room I believe. So there's little room for errors so to speak...

On a good day BTC does swings of more than 1k.

>> No.8993665

>>8993597
So it's literally just gambling. Where does the money come from?

>> No.8993710

>>8993644
the exchanges normaly liquidate your position when you lost everything you can affort to lose. So in this scenario it would be at a 10k los (if you havent more crypto of Fiat in that account)

>> No.8993741

My id changed lol. Still OP here
