So what's the secret to this?

Finding an obscure Chinese supplier for assplugs and making a 60% margin on it through eBay?

eBay skims off nearly 13% with all of their fees, which is a BIG chunk of business.

Store can drop it down to 4% for ebay's cut in certain categories (electronics mainly), or 9% for most (instead of 10%). Top rated gets you a 20% discount off final value fees (so basically 8%). Paypal keeps their $0.30 + 2.9%.

>>878070
Pretty common for sellers to list shipping as higher than it is. They just hope you won't notice. They often take hits to their DSR for it.

Using a shipping type other than what is stated is grounds for a negative (unless it was an upgrade).

Yea and there's apps now that are for direct selling (Mercari, etc). It's not even a website, they're just making apps for people to sell and use the money to buy from other sellers. Don't even have to take it out if you don't want to.

You just need to explore markets that you're interested and try to source however you can.

Also they do give kick backs for established stores too.

Looking at a lot of their shareholder meetings it seems that the auction business isn't great for them and they're really trying to shift over to bigger sellers taking over with "buy it now". Should I simply contact ebay and tell them I'm not content with the answer? I'm not too fond of discussing this matter with one of the stores ''managers''. What happens if I dont answer ebay by the 10th september?

The seller send this answer:
''Thank you very much for letting us know and sorry you have still not received your order. For international packages that take longer than 31 days, we do offer to locate the customs label number that is recorded with the post office and used by international post offices. Your package customs label number is:XXXXXX Please note that this is NOT a tracking number and the post office is not required to track your package with this number, especially in international territories. International packages are normally delivered within 14-21 days. However if it has taken longer than 30 days, some have had success contacting their local customs office using the customs label number. Should you not receive your package by 45 days, please let us know and we will inform a manager to help resolve this issue. Thank you. Best Regards, Ideal808 Inc“''

Guys I've been running a little business that involves custom silver and gold necklaces. I'm doing pretty much nothing and making about $100 per silver necklace.
it pretty much goes like this
>get 10 customers
>Guy 1 sends molds to people to personalize
>People send molds to Guy 2, who makes the necklaces and sends them back
>I pay guy 1 and guy 2 , get my share

The thing is I'm getting lazy, how do I make this grow ?

I'm guessing you meant 08/01/15

Either your package is lost or stolen, the tracking # they gave you probably starts with LJ, these types of tracking don't usually get scanned because they're the cheapest way of shipping packages internationally and most countries just do it just to be nice. Should've asked the seller to register the pckg ($13 or so). Most postal thieves don't steal those, because USPS actually has to pay out for those packages, so of course they'll look into where it is/prioritize it so it won't even be stolen.

Either way, if the package doesn't arrive or show "delivered/customs update", you can win the case.

yes, thats what i meant.

Thanks for your response.

I think I should wait until september 10th and then contact ebay. Waiting even longer and letting one of the stores managers handle it doesn't seem like a good option. They will probably start talk about a partial refund or something like that and I don't want to wait 2 or 3 weeks to get my money back.

What would you do? I just fear that ebay will side with the seller because their response was nice.

No problem

For one, I don't buy anything international with USPS, DHL/FedEx/UPS/TNT is the way to go.

In your case I'd wait it till the 10th, then write in the disputes:

"I contacted my postal office and they too said they don't have the package. Is it lost?"

Don't try acting smart like you know it's lost, eBay will think you're a scammer seeing that you already know what might be going on. Just play it dumb since it's not even your fault the package is lost/stolen/delayed.

If you are really looking to get your money, call in after you have said that and escalated the case, telling eBay that you've now contacted the customs office and they too don't have it. They should either close the case in your favor right there and then or tell you to wait (they'll note the case on their end).

lol now if I was the seller you'd be fugged either way, so let's hope this seller doesn't know how to react.

Auctions are dead because eBay strangles traffic to them.

They signed contracts with big box retailers guaranteeing a certain level of sales. Can't meet those metrics naturally so they divert search results. Unfortunately, can't meet those metrics if customers don't actually want what big box retailers are selling either. And if customers aren't finding what they want, sooner or later they start shopping elsewhere.

I think when the end comes for eBay, it'll be swifter than anybody thinks. But right up until it happens, eBay will look fine and people will believe they're fine.

None of it sells because no one buying our items would ever, ever consider this shit outside of a joke gift for a friend.

Also we can have a product sit unsold for 6 months, and if it sells once, we will sell another 2-3 within the next week, then it will die again.

We are completely at the mercy of ebays search algorithm just like trying to get traffic from google.

It's not that their shit is selling ,its that it's flooding the search results with what is basically spam.

We are also holding off on amazon until we can sort out ecommerce<>quickbooks<>shipping integration.

There's a million different 'apps' that claim to do it, but once you remove cloud based malware that wants access to your QB company file over the internet and forced use of their own fedex acc for shipping you are left with ones that charge thousands extra a year because you have more than one computer and ecommerce 'channel'.

One I looked at today is three times more expensive if you use QB enterprise over pro. With zero extra features...

Basically they ship USPS packages through FedEx/UPS/DHL (like Amazon's FBA/ Pitney Bowes), and these types of packages aren't moving as fast as a priority mail would, not even a first class. So what's the point of it?

It's as if they make sure the regular mail (Express/First Class/etc) goes first and then they deal with these.

It's basically a private company working with USPS (the govt), and by the looks of this new snail mail that came in 2013 or so, it's saving both the seller + these shipping companies a ton.

I wouldn't care, but really...look at this shit. If it was going from N to E it would've taken up to a week, while First Class takes 2-3 days. Chinese really run everything over here...

They are all in India bro, lol try getting a U.S. rep on the line. Once you do, tell them what you told the Indian rep and tell them to put a note on your listing on their end. This way if anyone (Indian probably) that's looking for bad listings tries to take it down again, they'll see an American rep notated that it's fine.

Happened to me a lot when I started, lol sold over 600 of an item and it was taken down for "Keyword Spamming". When every other listing had the same title as me...

It's pretty easy to get an American rep on the line if you call the right number. You can find it if you dig enough.

They also cannot reinstate a listing with sales history. At least not at the customer service supervisor level. Don't care enough to start calling managers about it.

Yeah it was, I got them to fax me a copy of it. The company demanded that ebay take down the listings that featured their name on OEM parts. There were 800+ listings taken down because the parts are "universal". The item I sell is custom stamped in the US for me alone, it only fits that brands products.

The guy (the other reps were all women) in the listings dept understood what I was getting at and said it was fine, and suggested a couple alterations. He was about the nerdiest sounding guy I've ever heard.

Your acc gets suspended, they're still going to try and take it out.

Paypal will keep trying to take the money out of your bank/card. If it keeps getting denied, your paypal will go negative. If you don't pay up, your PP will be suspended and you will start getting calls from collections :^ )

During all of this, you won't be able to buy anything with Paypal. Don't think about making a new acc, it will be shut down quicker than you can buy something. Also if you don't have the money in your bank acc, you'll be hit with $35 overdraft fee everytime Paypal tries to take the money out. Sometimes twice a day.

>> No.892083

>Anyone know what happens if you don't pay your monthly seller fee's by ebays deadline?

Well they deduct it from your paypal account. You agreed to automatic deductions. So they will pull it out of your funding account, and if they don't work, your backup account. On the bright side, if you owe them like $6, they're just going to suspend your account, they're not going to start collections on you for it, it would cost them 10x that to do so. Also if your fee is less than $1, ebay carries it over. So if you list items using your free listings, you won't owe them shit unless you sell something, in which case they will take the profits as payment.

>>891537
>hearing reports over the years of them doing whatever the fuck they want to get you to pay up.

Depends on the collection service. 3rd party collection services aren't allowed to do anything very sketchy. Theses are more common than 1st party collection agencies since it's easier just to outsource the job to an agency and pay them a percentage recovered. Anything under a few hundred dollars isn't worth their time.

As >>891511 said, the real issue is the overdraft fees you will get pounded for. You can disconnect the bank account if they don't limit your account though.

I'm not an expert at ebay but from reading this thread you're all doing it wrong. Have you any idea how many faggots there are on ebay? Do you know how they become power sellers? Protip: it's not from buying physical stock. The majority of listings on ebay are from sellers who don't have any physical stock at all. They're simply putting up all this shit and when they eventually get a sale they place the order at another online store with the buyer's details (or if they're good -- at a supplier that they themselves have negotiated with.) That way, they're not risking buying 100s of stock that they then can't sell and the startup costs are almost non-existent since you're literally just placing orders at other retailers.

The concept is called "drop shipping" and it's been quite popular since 2008. Unfortunately, to build a business doing this with huge revenues takes a fuck load of time but I'm currently in the process of writing software to automate it for me. I have no clue if this is even still possible today. So far: I've listed about 10 items with around 5 - 10 views each and ZERO sales. I've managed to find products which are mostly competitive but I'm getting no sales. Hopefully it's not a fundamental problem with the way I'm listing and I just need to put up 100~ or so listing. Numbers + quality listings.... I also found a good supplier recently and there's zero competition on ebay so hopefully I can drop ship from them and get sales.

There's no way a retail shipper could make that much without a serious initial investment so most people in this thread aren't going to make more than a few hundred.

It's better you have the inventory nowadays, you're trying to do something that's already flooded. Having your own stock never gets old, sellers will sell out, you'll be the only one selling at times while a drop shipper is dependent on the supplier. Your mentor is probably one of those sellers selling chargers/etc for under $3, he's not making anything on that unless someone buys 2,3,4 at a time. Drop shipping means more fees, better to buy all at once and hold the inventory yourself.

Also starting off being a drop shipper, you'll end up confusing orders and losing your acc before you get up to 50 skus.

Drop shipping is dead, by and large. The margins are thin as fuck, there are frequent breaks in the chain.

When I warehouse my own merch, I can verify it's quality, I can assure it meets strict handling guidelines, and most importantly, I can make sure it's in stock.

Drop shippers get burned constantly on inventory issues.

Plus with services like FBA, there is no point.

Looking at what I just posted, you see the numbers all end in 98. That's because it's the same item, I sell 500-800 of these a month.

15-20 returns on the SAMEitem, NOTHING ELSE (lol ikr)
>inb4 you should not have that many returns, 800 sales and 20 returns? I'm doing something right

I tell the rep to look at the consistency of the returns, the comments, the buyer, the complaint.
Then I throw hella metaphors at them, Ex: "It's like the buyer bought my car and now wants me to teach them how to drive".

There was even once that one of the rep bought from me, lol he said the buyers were dumb not to know how to use a simple product, then he closed all the returns w/o me having to explain.

Good advice from me, don't use stripe! They are going to fuck you over with charge backs. I had 4k $ in sales last 2 weeks and 2k got charged back because stripe is too stupid to check the payments for fraud. You can Google it, many people have had the same problems with them

You're selling to NEETs, they seem like the worst group for charge backs.

>THIS DOESN'T LOOK ANYTHING LIKE MY WAIFU!!!!

>I tried fucking it, it broke

>I don't have enough money to buy Mt Dew now!

Also I think he was saying they have shit security so people use it with stolen credit cards, which the CC company than does a charge back on and fucks you because the person lost their CC.

hacked? bullshit. he fucked up and put it up for the wrong price, blatantly. should i let him cancel this order? bet ebay will force him to send it now that i've paid.

They didn't get hacked, leave your negative telling others about the bs.

Then open an INR (Item not received) case.

If anything, at least leave a neutral.
Excuses like that are stupid.

>> No.898807

>>898790
If he was really hacked, he can jump through all of the hoops with ebay. Send him the agreed upon price. If he doesn't ship, file an item not received case. Leave appropriate feedback and DSR ratings.

This basically screws him over for being a dick who doesn't own up to his mistakes. Plus it tells other buyers this guy can't be trusted.

eBay can't force him to send the item, but it can ban him from selling.

Don't send any stupid messages to him and fuck it all up though for feedback extortion or something.

So I've sold iphone boxes over ebay before. The sales go through, I get the money, I ship the box out, and usually within 24 hours ebay takes down the sale entirely for "possible fraudulent usage of these items" or people selling knockoff apple stuff with official apple packaging.

One sale went through completely fine, and I got about 4 more boxes I could sell. Could ebay flag my account, or put some sort of strike against me if I continue selling these boxes?

>> No.899314

>>899118

You're not allowed to sell them, as it's easy to make a fake Apple box.

You can order a bunch of them on Alibaba right now if you wanted.

eBay will suspend you for 7 days, then a month. After that they'll close your acc. Seeing that it's a stupid reason, they might not let you back in on your legit name/etc. Get ready to pay for some VPN IP addresses.

So the MacBook I won for 1/3rd the price had a problem with the sound.
I knew all I had to do was reset it to fix the drivers.

Ended up deleting the recovery itself because I was listening to Chief Keef and clicked on the wrong HD.

Apple set me up an hour later at my local store and formatted the entire thing and even upgraded my OS for free, yes FREE. Damn...

I like that ebay gives us the option but buyers don't read and penalize the seller with low DSRs and negatives because it was "too slow"
I mean I have had them choose smartpost because it was cheapest/free shipping with the estimated delivery time being 8+ business days and people still negging me after I ship same or next day after payment because it was "slow"
ebay has a system smart enough to see when packages were actually shipped, if it gets in the shipping company possession within the handling time then it should be impossible for idiots to leavs low scores

Nothing we can really do about idiots leaving negs though. They don't understand that 8 business days is not 8 days.

Living in Russia and searching for something to sell abroad. As you know, there were the ruble devaluation. So prices in usd became more then two-times lower. For example, retail price for Snickers bar is $0,35. Im not talking about food only: anything is cheap, especially produced in Russia. I would offer goods from here if someone tell me their demands. Because I can look up the Chinese sellers I use and see positive feedback from past customers and I buy tens of thousands of dollars from them a year.

I'm saying I live in the US and ship from the US. I can ship something from one side of the country to the other in 3 days for $2.04. Whereas you could close to the same speed with a courier but the cost will be much higher.

There are deffinetly things from Russia that people would buy in the US. Some examples of things I think you could move well are: Energy Drinks or niche luxury foods with cyrillic on them. Teenagers eat that shit up. Vacuum tubes, I recall reading that there is still a few companies making new ones in Russia and China. Even better if you can find new old stock (NOS) ones. They fetch huge money in the hobby market in the US and Europe and I imagine Russia has more than most of the world.

Industrial equipment is also an interested idea too. I work with some machine equipment as a hobby and Russian machines are either indestructible or junk. The issue there is machinery is large and heavy.
