What are the major cons about owning/using a hardware wallet?

>> No.8926113

It's uncomfortable having it in my ass all the time and messy when I have to use it.

>> No.8926118

There is none. It is objectively the most secure and easy to use way to store/spend crypto. Unless you are poor and cant afford the 60$ (like the guys below me who will say a paper wallet is "just as good").

I don't like these hardware wallets at all. I just make my own. SSD + Encrypted paper wallet seed phrase + PGP encrypted wallet on airgapped installations / usb's. It is a little more expensive, but the security in my opinion is a whole lot better. I even have some cloud backups (Encrypted seed phrase + PGP encrypted + passworded package). So if we get nuked its still in IPFS, Dropbox, Mega.

Hardware updates implies security breaches were found. New viruses could be invented in the future. I heard there are even ways to get around the “have to physically press the buttons” point. And the old you can accidentally send it to the wrong address.
I made a few copies of the keys and keep my wallet on my keychain. I figure, I haven’t lost my keys or my wallet in at least four years now so it should be safe enough on my person.
