I was there when there wasn't an exchange yet and just a site where you could buy em. it had this weird video explaining what it was supposed to be.

you could buy bitcoins for $0.01 a piece.
As I was in the advertising and marketing stuff myself and very young, I thought it was a scam of some sort. Like was 90% of the shit you saw just a way to get you to spend your dollar.

forgot about it all together and only actually bought coins september 2017

Depends where you live. UK has some surprising porn laws.

I first found bitcoin when namecoin launched, since I was interested in distributed systems and the pirate bay just had their DNS taken down. I looked into it, thought it looked interesting, and wished the best of luck to everyone involved. Next heard about it in 2013 when it was £50, thought I'd missed my chance and still didn't buy. Finally bought at the peak of the 2013 bubble, then watched it bleed out for 18 months. Could have gone better.

I maintain that it wasn't "smart money" that accumulated it was just pure luck that Bitcoin caught on. Further, most people who did buy at Rock bottom prices probably sold at $10 or $100 and I think the pain of selling early is worse than simply not knowing at all

Not only did I learn about it in 2011, but I lived in university dorms with free electricity and even had a spare video card lying around from an old rig of mine. I said nah because like everyone else at the time, the idea of digital property with no real-world asset backing having any kind of value whatsoever was a totally foreign and sketchy concept.

The thing with bitcoin is that nothing in the history of existence has appreciated so much in value in such a short span of time before. There was no frame of reference to support the belief that $0.20 bitcoin might be worth $200 in a couple years, much less $2000 or $20k. The risk was apparent to anyone - made-up digital money with no backing that could go poof at any point in time. But the potential reward that would have made buying $50 worth in 2011 seem like a sound risk-adjusted financial decision, was just not apparent at the time.

This is the story I tell myself when I cry myself to sleep at night clutching my .57 BTC paper wallet in my grubby little hands, anyways.

Smoke enough DMT and hold it long enough and you will cross over into hyperspace. You'll quickly lose feeling in your body and your sense of self and you'll find what's left of yourself in a bizarre hyperreal universe full of fast-moving, colorful, (usually) benevolent, geometric entities. They oftentimes try to perform acrobatics for you or show you objects, though the objects are usually impossible to make out. Oftentimes the entities have a sense of being jesters, clowns, elves or royalty of some sort, though I've also experienced italian chefs, salarymen, crust punk dragons, and other bizarrities. It's actually extremely unusual to NOT meet an entity during a breakthrough experience.

This sounds weirdly specific, like you wouldn't expect 100 people who took shrooms to all tell you that they met bouncing exhibitionist geometry elves during their trip. But with DMT, the same very specific descriptors always pop up again and again.

It is basically the strangest and most intense experience a human being can possibly have, but it can also be wonderful and uplifting if you are in the right mindset for it. It will exceed your wildest expectations of what a drug can do to a person and leave you in slackjawed awe afterwards. The only other drug that comes close to DMT's weird factor is salvia, but most people find salvia really unpleasant and dissociating. Whereas DMT is (can be) euphoric and life-affirming.

Do I regret not getting in when it was pennies on the dollar? You bet
Am I kicking myself for it? Nah, my life's pretty comfortable already. Would be lovely to not have to work one day but I'm still young

I remember when you could buy a 4chan pass for about 1btc, it was when 4chan passes first came out. That was the first time I really remember being aware of what bitcoin was. Not long after that was the first real moon and not long after that moot left for good.

Literally got red pilled in "electronic currency" in 2009, when I was 13, I even knew what Bitcoin was back then, was under half a cent per Bitcoin. Was too busy jerking off to porn hub tho.
Then heard of Bitcoin again at 150ish Bucks thought the run was done as I saw it below a cent so over 10000x
It took btc to hit 2000$ for me to realise this has just begun

I want to kill myself every day.

That's why I'm all in rn

My fellow Mt Gox'd biztards, there still my be a chance we could get our Bitcoins back from an AMA Mark Karpeles did: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/89o16y/im_mark_karpel%C3%A8s_exceo_of_bankrupt_mtgox_ask_me/

If you lost a lot, this could be the best hodl you have done thanks to Mt Gox.

I learned or BTC in 2011.
I owned a automotive customization shop
I ran a state DUI program for the shop to install
Breathalyzer in the cars.
The 2nd week of that program (guardian life-safer) a ultra nerdy guy with a Toyota Prius
Gets a voluntary unit installed (not state required)
Which had me thinking this guy is a fucking clown. I asked why voluntary? Most folks are dreaded this install. He said he’s gonna be really rich and wants to be sure he can’t hurt anyone by over celebrating. I asked what’s making him all this money with a smile. He said mine or invest in Bitcoin, it’s the future.
He was a volunteer client for 4 years.
In 2012 I eventually got in from his ranting about how BTC would have a game changing effect on the world...eventually.
The best advice I’ve ever gotten.
I’ve been forever grateful to this man I thought was a absolute fool

BTW every client come back to the shop every 4 weeks thru the contract. State Contract minimum is 1 year

>discovered BTC in 2011 when i was doing a school paper on deep web
>friend gets excited and says he wants to buy few BTC's
>i say it is too much pain
>i still try to setup my ATI HD4670 to mine BTC
>couldn't figure it out and i just said it is too much pain to setup for mining
i am still not thinking about killing myself because the whole blockchain thing is still in its infancy and there is still hope. plus i got pretty lucky with my job unlike my peers, so i am happy and life just goes on.

Mined DOGE in dec 2013, on 3rd day after release, mined enough for 2.3 BTC. Bought 240k BLK day one and sat on it till the massive 2014 spring pump when it did 50x+. Had I sold at the top I would have got 170 BTC off it but I wasn't home and didn't trade on Mintpal with my phone, someone else injected a big red dildo before me and I only got 110 BTC out of this. Looking back at BLK charts I feel pitty for the fags who kept with my bags for years as I and some other fag stopped that pump and fucked the whales up. The 110 BTC? Market sold at an average of $370 and gtfod out of crypto. Knew of ETH since 2015 end and ignored, it was shilled to me heavily by a friend at $13 and I ignored it as well. Now I have 0.5 BTC and ofc this $40k long gone on depreciating shit.

Knew about it when it was 1 cent. I was a freshman in high school. Didn't know anything other then thinking it was a really cool idea and that I'd like to buy some. I didn't know how to buy them and remember thinking my parents wouldn't let me use their credit cards for something I couldn't understand why I wanted it. High school went by and even college. Graduate college and bitcoin is at 1k and I'm think wtf so I buy some. It goes to 20k and I do not sell. That's my story. Thanks for listening.

First started lurking /biz/ back in May of 2017, saw a shit ton of antshares breads and how it was going to be the next big thing. Stopped browsing for a few months, came back in August, same shit, mad threads about antshares, then I left again, came back in November and NEO had already mooned like crazy by then. Saw Raiblocks shills in Nov, could've made hundreds of thousands but I didn't buy any because I was a pussy. Made my first crypto purchase in late 2017 and that's when shit started going downhill. I'm fucked now and want to kill my former self, thanks.

When i was a sophomore in high school, bitcoin was around $50. I had a project for economics to come up with a hypothetical business you could run from home, and I was going to mine bitcoin. I read into it and it sounded pretty technical so I said fuck it and switched up.

Also around that time I was selling weed and some guy offered me 5BTC for an ounce, but I wanted a new xbox so I said 'nah only cash'

What a fuckhead I was as a kid.

He will refund you the USD amount back of the value at that time.(350usd) I also lost some mtgox coins. After the theft you had to state to the claim if you want USD or BTC. Practically everybody filled in USD because most people thought BTC would be over.
