eBay General:

Lunatic buyers edition.

Other thread is slow, so I figured I'd start this one.

>> No.880939

Of course the other thread is slow, this is a really slow board.

I buy silver coins there. Pretty comparable to the local shop. Even a little cheaper in bulk and you can find cool ones the store doesn't have

I don't usually post messages from my buyers.. but today was an exception.
Tell me what you think, /biz/.

My first two messages were around a day apart. Buyer didn't pay within 56 hours or so, so I started an unpaid claim, and this happened. All messages should be included.

>> No.880961

does anyone here sell private label products on ebay or is it mostly a used marketplace (in contrast to amazon)

what about buying reviews or feedback? is it pretty straightforward or is ebay pretty strict about banning people for gray area activity?

Shit is automated for me now. You don't pay, claim gets filed, I wash my hands of it.

It is. You will eventually learn to stop asking people nicely to pay.

There is no reason for you to get involved at all.

>buyer makes offer
>you accept offer
>ebay automatically sends reminders
>UPI takes the reigns if non-payment
>if non-payment, sell item to someone else

Not at any point do you need to send a "friendly" message to the other party. This shit is just bin'ness nigga.

100% agree with this guy.
He even spelled the process out for you. Honestly I'd be embarrassed as fuck for you on the other end.

My story though, or atleast the only one I can remember, is being commissioned to sell a bunch of women's maternity bullshit.
So this woman buy this breastpump from me. 200$. She sends a message about paying for it in a different way or some shit, dont remember. Long story short, it turns out this woman wasn't even the one who bought it, she just happened to send a message at the same time it was bought and I never checked her name. So I say some shit like, it burned in a fire and shes all sad.

>> No.881090

Clearly you have mental issues too bro. First you almost fucked yourself out of a sale by hounding the buyer for payment a little over a day later. Then when he said he was going to pay for it your response should have been "ok". Instead, you almost fucked yourself out of the sale again by calling him names. Then you fucked yourself out of subsequent sales by saying you will never do business with him again. I don't think you're cut out for business. You are too emotional.

>> No.881091

>bro
>By hounding the buyer for payment

No, I accepted their offer within MINUTES, and they never responded to my first message . It's not at all unreasonable to want payment in a reasonably quick fashion.

Did you see what the buyer said at first?

I actually run a successful business, I have no reason to deal with people like this.

Post your sales, are you doing well? Any tips? I'd recommend avoiding crazy people, but that's just my opinion.

I don't sell on eBay anymore. I got banned from there a few times and am too lazy to create yet another account. Like other people have said multiple times in the thread USE THE UNPAID CLAIM SYSTEM. It's there for a reason. By contacting people and sending them multiple notifications you are just bugging and can actually cause them to cancel the sale. It's not worth the time or effort to go after people for payment. Mark it as unpaid, repost the item and move on.

>> No.881100

>>881091

Goddamnit.

1. When you accept the offer is irrelevant. More people are using eBay mobile and might just have a minute or two to fiddle on their phone in the shitter before going back to work.
2. It's very possible they found a better deal. This doesn't matter. It comes with the territory. File the claim, get your credit, relist, it's not the end of the world.
3. You're not "dealing" with anyone. eBay's automated system does most of the work for you. This is really no different from the real world. Give you a recent example:

>I'm a logistics supervisor
>an order came in, huge order
>order is filled by production, we're packing it up
>have it ready to go, and receive the word that the purchaser refused to pay for some reason
>so now we have to adjust and keep trucking

It comes with the territory of being in business. Not everyone is an Awesome Andy or Fantastic Freddy. Sometimes you get a Juxtaposed Jigaboo

Besides, if this one order is such a big deal to you, it tells me your volume is low. Seriously, it's a thirteen fucking dollar order. THIR-TEEN-FUCKING-DOLLARS

Don't get your panties in a bunch over a Jefferson and three Washington's. What is that after fees and shipping? $7-8 not counting what you paid? Big whoop. You spent more time bitching about it than your time is worth in dollars. Opportunity cost.

>> No.881105

>You spent more time bitching about it than your time is worth in dollars. Opportunity cost.

And you're right, this wasn't anything big.

I move 5 figures worth of stuff a year currently. I just want to provide good service to buyers, regardless of the item being $3, or $3000, this abusive bullshit really hurts me as I take it to heart. I guess in the future I'll just not say a goddamn word about payment, and will just start the claim after 48 hours.

fyi I made $400+ /hr yesterday. I'm not the biggest fish, but I'm certainly not the smallest.

> I guess in the future I'll just not say a goddamn word about payment, and will just start the claim after 48 hours.

It's honestly the best thing you can do nowadays. I've been selling for about 10 years (minus three years I spent as an overseas military contractor) and in recent years, it's just become best to not say anything.

I used to send personalized messages and what not too. Not anymore. You'll more likely piss someone off (as you did, though inadvertently) than you will make a positive impact. That's how people are.

I personally let eBay automate just about everything that can be automated, including accepting offers on a majority of items. And I use their Shipping Program because that's less paperwork for me. More automation = better.

I blame retailers like Amazon. There's no real personal experience anymore unless you want to sell on Etsy.

I'll be honest with you, or at least be as honest as my manager was to me. Our sales average about $4,500-$5,000/day during peak season and $2,500-$3,600/day during slow season (I guess as of right now).

1. Order generics from China. Most ebay ecommerce/warehouses I've seen, interviewed at, worked at were Chinese owned and operated.
2. Anything 13 oz or under because of USPS's first class shipping
3. Build your feedback score with small items, then you start investing in the larger stuff.
4. Our place has items priced about $13, we try to keep inventory to about 500 pieces each on hand. Less inventory is lean and efficient.
