Technically the formal extension is just for filing your return, but you're supposed to pay by April 15th. Penalties are 1-2% per month.

Personally I'm going to divide my bill up and pay some each month, in hopes that the market recovers a bit. If we see even a bit of recovery, it will offset the penalties.
