Yep. I’m a PhD student. I get paid to fuck about with data that I’m interested in for 3 years. Then when I graduate I can either continue to do the same as an academic, which is a pretty comfy life (although you won’t become rich unless you become a huge professor type) or I can sell my soul to a high paying bullshit job like consulting (since I’m from a target uni, top in world). Can’t go wrong

Yeah there could have been better things to invest my time into but that is honestly all I wanted to do. It sucks but at least I don't live with any regret. I have another job lined up anyways that will pay extremely well but boy would it have been fun competing at such a high level and loving every second of it.
