Not spreading FUD, just what I see as pro and con:

Con:
- payment to Gemini and Coinbase
- Garlinghouse made a statement on the value of XRP
- in fact not the whole chain can be audited
- McCaleb still holds significant amounts
- xCurrent can handle other crypto and fiat as well
- XRP migth be considered a security in the future
- unsolved reason for P&D in Dec/Jan
- still dropping from said P&D
- basically centralized
- henn/egg-problem with liquidity providers

Pro:
- huge funding from VC
- VC have an incentive to push banks to adapt XRP
- influential, well connected staff
- xCurrent already works as far as I know
- quite fast (used it myself to transfer funds between exchanges)

Con overweights for me, mostly because I do not trust devs, who make statements on the value of their currency.

This is like a bribe to ignore the FTC's warning for exchanges to not list anything that could be considered a security. Shady shit XRP wants to do.

>>8764586
>U.S. officials have warned unlicensed exchanges not to list tokens that could be deemed securities.
if coinbase would list xrp today and in the future xrp would be considered a security that would mean trouble for coinbase, so they are being cautious about listings
xrp has a great potential when the regulations get clearer since it would also give green light for financial institutions

some people see this as a shady shit, but it is everyday thing on binance, its to cover listing costs
>McCaleb still holds significant amounts
this is indeed worrying, even though he cant flood the market, they should have bought his bags when it was worth 1M
>xCurrent can handle other crypto and fiat as well
this would only be a problem if ripple starts to make a xrapid version with other crypto
>basically centralized
xrp is prone to decentralizate when scaling, unlike pow. having enough xrp stacked is a incentive to run a validator and it is not as expensive as runing a miner
>unsolved reason for P&D in Dec/Jan
to be fair every coin in the crypto market sufered this

>>8764928
they dont flood the market each month, most of xrp tokens are returned to scrow and great part of xrp are sold/given to institutions that want to pilot/use xrapid
bitcoin are created and it is not harmful, xlm stellar are given away each month too, and it doesnt crash the market
>>8765004

are you sure it is closed bud, you might want to check it again, and do you know what is pos and what is consensus algorithm, im not here to spoon feed you but they are not related at all

Everyday things going on in bucket shops like Binance would bring people in prison, please do not normalize this behaviour.

>this would only be a problem if ripple starts to make a xrapid version with other crypto
They long confirmed to be able to use other crypto or fiat, as far as I know.

>xrp is prone to decentralizate when scaling, unlike pow. having enough xrp stacked is a incentive to run a validator and it is not as expensive as runing a miner
Does not matter that it may be decentralized later - it is not now. Not as bad as e.g. with IOTA, as they advertised it as decentralied despite the validator, but still a point of criticism.

>to be fair every coin in the crypto market sufered this
Doesnt concern the people who look into the past of the project for regulatory reasons. If an executive took advantage of it, they look into it.

yes, xcurrent is currency agnostic, you can use bitcoin with it, even bitconnect, but there is no reason to do it manually when you can just plug in xrapid, xrapid is supossed to be the next step for a financial institution after xcurrent implementation

XRP is beta abandoned version of XLM. Their only aim is "crypto for banks" while no bank is using it and maybe never will. If they will, the price of XRP is not going to be pumped by the banks because they will not be entering a public crypto exchange market but use the 60bln XRP reserved by Ripple labs with artificial value. These transactions will have no effect. This is if actually any bank ever decides to pay a private company billions to be in charge of their financials (lol) and support the CEO to become the richest person on the planet (this time for real). Err.. muh crypto for banks..

bought xrp at .25 sold at 2.75... and I'm never touching it again ever.

it IS a security. period. the company Ripple uses the token XRP for access to liquidity when they need it. security.

Banks don't need Ripple or XRP... they have Hyperledger and R3 Corda. both are tied into large financial institutions already and both aren't affiliated wif da cryptos.

LMAO XRP has ... moneygram LMAO not even Western Union but the lame step-Western Union. Money gram is what Mexican immigrants use to send their shitty families the shit money they get from cleaning up shit.

It goes against the whole concept of the coin to be worth more than $1.00. That’s why the supply is so high. If you bought in at launch and sold anywhere above 1.00 you scored big.
