I read the roadmap https://developers.nano.org/roadmap/merchant-services/ , and Nano claims that they want to achieve merchant adoption. In challenges, there is no mention of volatility, so I assume they either don't see it as a problem or they already solved it.

Can someone then explain me how volatility is handled? If someone buys something with Nano there are two scenarios where the volatility affects the trade:

If Nano goes down like 20% the next day, the seller is at a disadvantage.
If Nano goes up 20% the next day, the buyer is disadvantaged as they would've been better off holding to their Nanos

Why is this not a challenge for Nano?

>he thinks LN works
I hope you're a troll. but I assume you have no problem with bitcoin being volatile, but you expect another to fix it without inflation?
If you want a stable coin buy XLM, it will always be 20 cents or less.
I'm looking for investments.

Nano is shit, literally digital shit. Have any of you actually looked up how a DAG protocol works? There is a reason Bitcoin is NOT a DAG coin.

>Lightning is stupid bruh hurr durr drrr
Nobody can even FUD the LN protocol well because they don't even understand the basics of how it works. Good luck losers.

Bro I'm not here to shill LN or fud XLM. I don't hold any BTC and I like XLM even if I don't hold any. Bitcoin is my favourite coin because I make an effort to keep up and understand what's happening with the blockchain space. I only bring up LN because if there'll be a general-purpose cryptocurrency (I believe there will be,) then LN is hard to match, and seemingly impossible for Nano. Volatility is a problem and I brought it up above. However, if anyone can beat volatility, it's BTC because of their mcap and growth prospects.

If you want real investments, then you should fund Bitcoin development. Not buy BTC, but invest in actual projects such as RSK sidechain. Buying coins is not investment: they're not even recognised as securities yet. They will be, but it's irrelevant

The initial Bitcoin idea has nothing to do with what Nano tries to achieve, but I'm curious to hear your reasoning, because it has nothing to do with DAG vs blockchain

when they're recognized as securities that's when they're regulated and worthless
securities regulations are draconian and archaic.
the entire point of bitcoin is getting away from the middle man

gonna post an infographic later on why LN is worthless, it's nothing to worry about, except for the fact when everyone figures it out bitcoin might tank and cause alts to tank

i'm relying on another service to bring instant fiat conversion to merchants.
see request. or maybe a stablecoin
unsolved problem but it's a big enough problem someone else has to fix it.

maybe the solution is 25 years from now we change the government and force them to give us a USD backed tether.

They're worthless for speculating for 100% returns. Surely you understand that speculation has nothing to do with Bitcoin vision? There was also no intent to have them as securities, it's just a side effect if you want to use blockchain to "invest."

The point of Bitcoin is to become the world's reserve currency.
The point of blockchain is much bigger, but still irrelevant to speculation. The "middle man" that is meant to be replaced is the law enforcement party. It's not supposed to replace the law or governance, it's supposed to simplify and guarantee the enforcement process through a trust-minimised process i.e. smart contracts. It's also most definitely not meant to be governed by the coin holders like Ethereum Foundation believes. There's a lot of vision and purpose to blockchain, and most of these may just be implemented on the Bitcoin protocol simply because other coins are not necessary and not as safe.

Anonymous and fungible payments is a side-effect of this and not the original purpose of Bitcoin/blockchain, but it's an application that was brought to life by itself and is here to stay. This will probably not use the Bitcoin protocol.

Rest of your LN critique is baseless and of no substance. Everyone is already acquainted with the (de)centralization FUD, routing problem, privacy concerns, etc. Provide reasoning if you want to be taken seriously

I agree that stable currency is unsolved and not really the main direction of Bitcoin, but I don't see any worthwhile competitor. Request and stablecoins are both valid players in this (more legit than Nano at least.)

The big revolutionary idea that everyone is pushing towards is to have Bitcoin-based USD though, not USD-baked tether. These are not kids and small-time devs playing with politics. There are influential people behind this movement with a lot of political power

Liquidity. it's not about fucking routing, that's a strawman brought up by the retarded cashies.

take a look at the LN main net right now, pick two random nodes, and imagine yourself trying to transfer money from one point to the other.
Now realize each node's outgoing funds need to be entirely owned by the owner.

The nodes that give connectivity to everyone have 25 outgoing channels. So the max they can transfer is 1/25 of their wealth.

There is no way to organize the network in such a way that liquidity happens. you'll always be severely limited in how much money you can transfer.

When they say "coffee", they really mean coffee. You'll ONLY be able to buy a coffee with it and nothing more expensive.

It's an issue (or an unknown variable,) and it's why Blockstream is selling this to exchanges and why decentralization is a problem. But IMO it's more likely that this will lead to having a couple super-nodes that provide most of the liquidity (possibly with a fractional reserve) than to a failure on LN project. Sure it's a problem and will be a trade-off of trust/privacy/centralization, but it's not a deal-breaker for the stakeholders involved, and there are enough people incentivized to get this working.

Naturally, if you have important/big transactions to make, you'll just use the Bitcoin blockchain.
