mcap is simply the latest price times coins in circulation.

btc can be $10. but if you have one btc seller and two btc buyers, whoever outbids one another gets the coin. if one buyer is willing to pay $100 for it, then bam - market cap just instantly x10'nd and everybody is rich on paper.

if btc have two sellers and one buyer, whoever is willing to go lower sells it, and mcap can just as easily half or whatever.

considering
that initial price of bitcoin was zero
how much of bitcoin was mined and distributed basically for free
how much of bitcoin was bought for almost for free with mineable coins, icos and forks
how much of bitcoin was bought with tether
how easy it is for exchange to washtrade the price up on a low volume without anyone actually paying for it with cash
i think real liquidity of btc is 5-10% of market cap at best
