Vanguard
done

or, you could learn urself if u have the time, the willingness to accept that you will lose money and don't need the money if u lose it. However, don't, just grab a vangaurd or an ETF

You put it all in a savings or money market account.

You need to have an emergency fund and some stability before you start investing.

BLOW A GRAND on dumb shit...and put 6k in the bank in a savings.

>> No.815066

Don't listen to these assholes. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do with that unless you get lucky. So why not take the risk and hit the markets. Whatever you do though, don't put all your eggs in the same basket.

If 7k is all you have, then you should leave it in a saving or checking account so that you have some liquidity for emergencies.

If it saves you even once from suffering credit card interest, then it was worth it

what is your dream? what does your future income look like?

spend it on investments (mortgage reit could make you $1000 a year income) or start a business. You could buy an inventory and sell online or something else creative for rapid growth.

Buy a car, boat, furniture, books, paintings, whatever you want.

Whatever you do make sure you spend your time wisely, you can never make more of that.

OP here(and yes im actually OP, for some reason my IDs keep changing).

Do it fag. And have an emergency account of atleast 5k. When you get at least 10k total I'd start thinking about putting it in an ETF

Good deal, I bought one for less than $1500 and sold it for a little more money about five years later.

A more expensive bike might experience some depreciation if you decide to sell it.

Good luck and save money for gear and maybe some repairs so you can get them done right away. They are exciting machines.

Didn't want to make a whole thread so I hope nobody minds me tagging on here.

I've got a wage coming in from a job I like that leaves me with £1k spare income a month. I've been trying to spend it on holidays and toys and crap but it just keeps pilling up [£20k] in a building society account earning 1.5% or something. I own a property outright worth £125k; I want to move somewhere better at some point but not today. I don't know much about investing but I'm good with maths and googling and don't mind putting some effort in. What do?

Is having an emergency fund typically american ?

In France we have unemployement money, that guarantee an income throught finding another job.

I have never heard of that in the US, I am young and stupid though. It might exist.

I'd like to live somewhere rural; a suitable property in the area I'd like to live costs about £200k-£300k.

Don't want to shit up another thread with my investment question asked a million times.

tl;dr: I've been given a house and land on the other side of America and will have an estimated 400,000.

I'm freaking out because I live in a shitty apartment in New York working as a software engineer. In the following months I would love to just move to Texas and just live there doing whatever the fuck I want while making money from investments.

What type of professionals should I look up to assist me? What are some low-risk investments that I should look into? Do you think it's realistic to live off this for the rest of my life with no/low-risk investments? How do I go about not freaking the fuck out?
