Did anyone ever get big into trading in Team Fortress 2 ?

Bitcoin always reminds me of the earbuds used to trade and price rare items in TF2 , early on in the trading scene a few members decided to accumulate massive amounts of this essentially free item. They coordinated to make it the official trading pair used on pricing sites and on all trading servers.

At some point really out of nowhere the community and all the pricing sites decided to switch to keys as the pricing mechanism for trading items (fiat in this world) , buds usefulness as a store of value almost completely crashed within the week.

I really feel like when USD trading pairs for all coins become the norm on all exchanges Bitcoin will die in a very short period of time.

Got into trading in TF2 but not earbuds, earbuds was my endgame. I was just lurking through l4d2 communities and trading a Bill's Hat for a fucking common guns with the players who didn't knew about prices. Then I did the same thing with an El Jefe. After I acquired earbuds I lost interest and switched to dota trading and after I acquired Drodo I lost interest too and then i grew up.

Also steam's politics and fees are so bad that I wouldn't touch this ever again.

Yeah but not trading pairs for every coin with an easy way to transfer it from exchange to exchange and into a bank account. This seems like an unfortunate innevitable outcome when the banks get balls deep into crypto.

This is a really good point. I am only into crypto for alts. If I could buy my alts with fiat I would skip out the BTC middleman. The only reason I ever used BTC or ETH was to get the alts I actually wanted. I would really like to never have to use BTC or ETH ever again.

traded 4 series 1 crates for the heavy's hair and glasses and 6 series 3 crates for buds.

Feeling blessed

earbuds were great because it was easier to buy a 100+ key items for a few buds.
