Why are there so many fucking dumbfuck customers???

>Dumbfuck #1 this week:
>his item is returned to be by USPS because he stopped paying for his PO BOX
>contact him to ask what is going on with his shipping address
>he says "oh send it again, I paid for my PO BOX so this time i won't be returned
>I tell him, no problem, that will be $15 to ship it again
>he spurgs out about how he "shouldn't have to pay shipping twice"
>I kindly explain that I already shipped it once, and it was returned, and to ship it again COSTS ME MONEY
>he says that "but then shipping will cost more than the item itself" as if this matters at all in this situation
>LISTEN ASSHOLE, I BOUGHT POSTAGE ONCE ALREADY SPENDING $15 AND BECAUSE YOU GAVE ME A SHIPPING ADDRESS THAT WAS UNACCEPTABLE, THE POST OFFICE RETURNED IT, SO IF YOU WANT IT SENT AGAIN, YOU HAVE TO PAY AGAIN, SHIPPING ISN"T FUCKING FREE

>Dumbfuck #2:
>Orders item on Sunday
>I ship it Monday, emailing him UPS tracking number
>He emails me on FRIDAY saying he "needs to cancel the order, don't need it"
>I kindly inform him that the item shipping 4 days ago, and thus the order cannot be cancelled
>he writes back some fucking hardly readable email saying "but i don't want it anymore and you must refund me now"
>I again inform him that he can return the item AFTER HE RECEIVES IT
>He then complains about having to pay shipping to return the item to me cuz he "didn't want the item in the first place!!!"
>FUCK YOU

i'm thinking about buying those retarded going-to-get-yourself-shot iphone cases that look like guns.

http://www.cnet.com/news/who-wouldnt-want-an-iphone-case-that-looks-like-a-gun/

I ran into a TON of pledge future floor finish back in december - 27oz bottle at 1.25 each on clearance. Selling them on ebay for 15 bucks plus shipping. Made a killing on those, was selling 4-7 per week. apparently hobbyists LOVE the stuff for loose joints on toys (after I asked why one guy bought so many), and cleaning companies love it because 1-2 coats make a cleaning job look really good on tile/wood/vinyl flooring.

kinda silly since you can get it for 6 bucks on walmart.com but whatever.

There should be a thing that says "Estimated delivery date: X"

After that date you're allowed to selection an option saying you haven't received your item. At that point it'll open up a case between you and the seller. You can choose to get a refund or the item and the seller will have a limited amount of time to resolve the issue. After like 5 days you can ask Ebay to step in.

Unless the tracking says the item was delivered to you you'll basically get a refund no questions asked.

I don't really get how sniping can be beneficial with this proxy scheme.

As i understand on ebay you are supposed to bid the absolute maximum you are willing to pay, and if you are the highest bidder, you end up paying the minimum amount required to still be the highest bidder.

These sniper services bid at the last possible moment, one increment over the displayed price, which is the second highest current bid plus one increment. This means that they probably won't bid enough, like if the displayed price is 100$ and the highest bidder bid 150$ than the sniper will bid 101$ and nothing will change except the displayed price going up to 102$.

Depending on how fast ebay can register new bids, how far the sniper's servers are from ebay's etc, the service can still make new bids until it reaches the limit the user specified, in which case the result is exactly the same as if the user just gave that limit directly to ebay with no 3rd party involved and no chance of error due to needing to send a lot of messages in a short time.

>As i understand on ebay you are supposed to bid the absolute maximum you are willing to pay, and if you are the highest bidder, you end up paying the minimum amount required to still be the highest bidder.
Unfortunately (or fortunately I guess if you use these sniping services), people are stupid. A lot of users won't put in their maximum bid thinking they can somehow lowball a computer program, despite clear instruction on how the bidding process works being posted everywhere.

If the general public understood how bidding on ebay works, then sniping would be pointless, yeah. However, as it stands now, it's totally legit.

A lot will bid your maximum at the last second, do you get a snipe with no time for humans to respond, plus you get the benefits of proxy bidding.

It will be fruitless 9:10 times, but that 1 can be a pretty good score.

I bought a 3DS at 4PM today for $80 and sold it 2 hours ago for $199, but it depends on the game, and I try not to stock junk I know I'll have a hard time moving, unless I get it in a lot.

I test all my stuff, clean them if possible, take super nice pictures, and ship same/next day, so I typically don't sit on things for more than a week unless it's something hardly anyone ever buys, like this fucking Metroid Prime 3 I can't get rid of. I typically get feedback from people amazed at how fast they get things, like this one guy I sold Pikmin 1 to that somehow got his copy the very next day.

I get annoyed at eBay sellers sometimes since I expect people to be as punctual as I am when it comes to shipping, but they sometimes take almost a week to even mail shit, so I guess I'm not the only one.

Yeah, eBay, but it was an ambassador 3DS preloaded with Smash and like, 21 games, plus a hard copy of 999, a protector case, and a charger. I gave them free shipping, but the person who bought it sounds like they would have paid for shipping if I didn't jump the gun and actually read their note they attached to the order. They wanted to pay more money to have it shipped faster, but I'd already packed it in a flat rate priority box that will probably be there in 2 days, so I just told them they'd get it basically in 3 days anyway. I could have taken them for a ride, but that would feel wrong, and I'd rather have a little pride in what I do despite being just a reseller.

USPS just took down the amount of days they hold your tracking for.

Instead of 180 days where you can check your tracking, it's now 120days.

But wait, THERE's MORE!!

Paypal let's you file a claim 180 days after you make a purchase.

So guess what scammers?

After 120 days, YOU can file an "Item not received case". Paypal checks the tracking, BUT THERE'S NOTHING ON THERE, so you win.

She tried doing a yard sale last weekend because she bought too much shit from Goodwill, only made $5. She really thought people wouldn't know that the shit she was selling was Goodwill down the street. Still won't listen to me when I keep telling her Americans aren't that dumb.

But yea Goodwill/thrift is good if you know your shit on clothes, then you can get the silks/name brands that are missing tags/etc. Selling clothes on eBay though is stupid if you don't know how to deal with fatties not knowing their sizes and wanting to blame you for their fatness.

Does anyone know how listings end up on Google search results?

I have auctions for a specific brand of designer jeans and have optimised the titles, description and features (Fast & Free etc) for user searches.

However, my listings literally will not show up on Google shopping - even if I search for the exact title. Meanwhile, other eBay listings for the brand showing up on searches have terrible titles, one sentence descriptions and are just from casual eBay users.

Why do my listings never show up and these other ones do? Getting onto the Google shopping results would obviously be great exposure.

Well, it was like an accident they made on purpose.

You see, if you upgrade to a store, then your current listings don't update to reflect that, so you have to take down and relist everything manually or else you get hit with the fees they were listed under, and I think they even say that somewhere when you upgrade, but if you just call and tell them to fix it they will, but I guess they bank on people not bothering to check their fees regularly to determine that they're correct, so even if they give out some refunds they still win in the end by playing a numbers game and pocket all the cash of the hoards of ignorant fools that use their platform.

You just need to keep them honest and double check their numbers. Protect yourself from eBay, keep your ratings and sales high, and they'll at least operate within their own rules when you call them on it.

Also, don't be a dick when you call customer service, or else the Indian people who don't care about you will /really/ not help you.

lol I sell things people need/want

If you're selling something no one else sells, it's either a custom made item or something people can't find where to buy from.

There are about...40 people selling my main item. Every time someone new pops in, I lower my price for a few days, letting them know that I'm ready to get to the point where I know they defiantly won't be making any money. So they stay above my price and surprise surprise, they still sell. Just not as much as I do.

Also my main selling item will get you around 3-5 negative feedbacks a week based on how many you sell (1-2 if you sell small). Don't forget the headaches of idiotic buyers. This isn't a perfect product, so anyone can buy it, anyone...meaning anyone that doesn't even know what the hell they're buying. Lucky me, as I know how to deal with these types of buyers.

E-commerce company eBay Inc (EBAY.O) reported a 7 percent jump in net revenue, boosted by higher demand in the PayPal Holdings Inc (PYPLV.O) payments business it plans to spin off on Friday.

Net income fell to $83 million, or 7 cents per share, for the second quarter ended June 30, from $676 million, or 53 cents per share, a year earlier.

Net revenue rose to $4.38 billion from $4.10 billion.

so they make profit but lost 7cents a share?

the reason why paypal makes that many transactions is because they have the monopoly of internet payments. no one likes these fucking companies !!!!!

Can't do that. I'd be buying them for $30ish each, and the brand name is completely different. It's a well known product with a different name on it.

Junk yards, especially on holiday sales where things can go 50% off. and by junk yards I mean pull your own ones. They have generic pricing.

For example, last year I bought about 50 pairs of car sun visors for $1.99 apiece (so ~$5 a pair with taxes). Some of these pairs sold for $40-50+ a set. Other parts sell well too: certain radios, dash parts, speedometers, etc. Especially older vehicles and even 90's vehicle like anon said.

I don't do it as much anymore because I moved and the nearest place is an hour away, but I still go down on holiday sales and I can make a small fortune.

And if you want to deal with BS, big parts can make you a lot of cash. Couple of years ago bought a minty tailgate for a toyota 4-runner for $50 and I sold that motherfucker for $600. Buyer lived the next state over so I just drove it to him.

All about marketing, try selling some other shit that sells fast and then switch the images/title/description/category when you've sold alot of that item.

People will think you sold that new item and a lot of people trusted you, when in reality you just switched items. Most people (like myself) don't like being the first buyer of an item. Also your item would be closer to the first page this way.

pretty much, mixed with common sense and intuition. I was with two other pickers, my roommates, and one doesn't have a smartphone and we get rid of any junk he's picked out usually just by eye. Some stuff doesn't sell other times it does, you hope for the latter. Or you can also check sold listings. I've been hustling at flea markets since I was 12, which was over 13 years ago.

So I pretty much know what sells and what don't, but I'll admit, smartphones and the ability to do instant research in the field have increased my efficiency by probably a thousand percent or more. But there are certain things you can't really go wrong with:

>medical equipment (and I mean good equipment, not someone's used breathing machine or diabeetus tester)
>gun parts
>video games
>coins/silver/gold
>construction equipment, especially surveying equipment
>aviation
>pretty much anything where the users are big wigs/rich yankees/etc

Take last year. Bought a CST/Berger DGT 10 from an auction of an architectural firm that was going out of business. Paid $10 for it. IIRC got $500 for it.

You do this shit long enough and you can just tell what is expensive and what isn't. Like a sixth sense. If I see something at a flea market, there's a little radar in my brain that goes "that shit pricey as fuck".

The niche is so small but the userbase has so much money it's rediculous. They'res no way they can yell "bootleg" or "counterfeit" because

a. the bootlegs are made the same way as the originals
b. if i list them as an auction starting at half price, or even BIN at half price, they won't think twice before buying it ,and be happy that they got it so cheap
c. eBay employees + other users wouldn't be able to tell it's a bootleg just by looking at it.

im not gonna do it long term. Just whenever I need an extra $500 lol

Did you just randomly stumble upon that niche?

>> No.821957

I looked around my room and used my own niche for inspiration.

Only thing is, these had a limited run, and usually come with a few more things. I'm just gonna sell them "as is" without the extra shit.

Most on eBay are fake anyways, no one really cares.

Gaahhh, that's way too vague.
Anyway, well done on finding a good niche, now good luck raking in the mad profit.
I was pulling in over 1000 pounds monthly until someone complained.

why would someone complain?

>>821962
not animu figurines, but i remembered i did order one on ebay knowing it was a fake.

Slight trademark infingement I guess. What's worse is that there's other sellers selling the same shit.

My account got suspended for a week.
Still going to try and move the remaining stock I have in a few weeks time.

like i said, they nor eBay can prove it's a fake. It's literally the same thing, just extras from a limited run.

I'm no weeaboo, I have no idea which ones are even good or not. A quick search on Ali doesn't even show any cheap figures that I see selling for any more on ebay.

It's me again but on a phone. We first after he bought it he said he doesn't have money in his PayPal and asked if I could wait until funds were available. I told him I don't want to ship to Brazil and he replied he want it shipped to some relatives in the US. Is this scam like? I'm not dumb to ship anything before being paid at least but what about the shipping part. Could I just cancel this transaction or will I be penalized somehow?

Dude you're being scammed, clearly you're a first time seller.

Just tell him to fuck off if he won't accept the package to his PAYPAL address.
Either way, when you send it he will claim he got a box of pickles or some shit, eBay will ask him to return the "phone" and the money will be refunded to him. All at your expense.

Started this year. Been dealing with zero feedback bidders mostly. A Brazilian won an auction before I knew about the shipping preferences so I was responsible for shipping it, luckily they weren't scammers but I don't want to deal with it again which is why I'm wondering if I can cancel this without any marks against me? There needs to be an option to flat out block these countries. Also wasn't aware you could hit the buy it now button without actually paying.
