How can anyone have a problem with a counterfeit BMW? It's such a complicated item that it can't really be impersonated can it? Maybe the individual parts but you take the car to a registered mechanic anyway... maybe they will use VeChain but it won't be for authenticity, that isn't a problem

The essential difference between Vechain and Walton is the layer at which the blockchain is implemented. Vechain has patents on the txID-reading RFID chips with memory, which allows the blockchain to be implemented in the foundational level through the RFIDs. They are world leaders in chip technology, and make their own chips. Walton does not make their own chips. They outsource the hardware, and have the hardware made compatible with their blockchain via API. So their blockchain is implemented several layers up in the application layer, through business-centralized control. So, Walton is inherently less decentralized and less secure.

This is the essential difference, and it's not a deal-breaker for Walton, but it is a fact, and it does matter. Vechain is somewhat ironically better at authentication than Walton for this reason, despite Walton's original main use-case as an anti-counterfeiting product (they've since expanded their use-case into cold logistics and other areas).

But there are other advantages to making your own chips. Walton is using someone else's hardware and then repurposing it for their blockchain. Vechain has built the chip from the ground up to be compatible with the blockchain and improved the standard chip to be much more advanced, with encryption, fine minute movement detection, anti-collision logic to prevent skipping, low voltage technology so the chips can last more than 20 years, and other advancements over standard chips. Making their own chips also makes them cheaper. Standard RFIDs are 15 to 20 cents. Vechain's are less than 5..

Barcodes are much less permanent and obviously do not store data. Data is the new Data. This is IOT.

>> No.7998125

>>7997840
This is more about blockchain than rfid tags. anyone can make an rfid tag. There are some benefits to rfid over barcode in efficiency. a barcode needs to be scanned and data has to be entered by the individual scanning the barcode. an rfid tag can just be sent through a terminal(like a metal detector or those things in the grocery store that detect if you steal something) without needing someone ot be their and scan each barcode.
rfid can also be modified for a paticular product to give other info that barcode cant. barcodes are just stickers, rfid are small chips.
Again though, the main appeal to these supply chain blockchains is the blockchain. and the removal of the human element, that commonly lies on the paper work.
Im a wagecuck at Kroger, work in dairy, we get milk from the warehouse that we dont even order, because the warehouse has to meet certain criteria and get rid of its milk and so they just throw it onto our pallets, now we have ot sell it. now you might be thinking "Well just take it off the pallet when it gets there and say this isnt ours" but you would only really say that if you never worked there before. the milk could be buried into the pallet and not be noticed. but if our dock at our work acted like a terminal to check for rfid tags, as we take milk out of the truck through the terminal and into our cooler, we could see in really time what all the milk we were receiving was and notice if we received anything that wasnt ours.
a similar problem exists in our produce department where i see blockchain and rfid tags being even more helpful to ensure fresh fruits and veggies.
sorry for the ramble. just understand that if its a barcode, its a sticker nothing more. and data has to be entered by senders and receivers who can and do manipulate the data
