Hi anon.

So, a few years ago i started freelancing web stuff, web shops, other web solutsions etc. From day one i focused on offering maintenance contracts to all the clients. It has gotten to the point some months ago, where i dont take new projects and make decent "passive" income just from all the maintenance stuff. Basically i update their websites and offer support etc. I think when calculated to actual hours, i work for one or two days a month.

That might sound pretty awesome but i have gotten to the point where i literally cant find a reason to get out of bed in the morning. I cant find a reason for anything anymore. Im not depressed, im not suicidal, its just like im tired of everything. I have a few friends, i have a few beers in the weekends, i have a normal relationship and a gf of 6 years. We travel once in a while.

I wake up and force myself to sleep more and more because in my dreams i feel more than being awake, til im feeling completely shit from oversleeping. Then i make coffee, have couple of cigarettes, eat something when its a good day. Answer a few e-mails. From then on i pretty much browse /biz/ til i get back to sleep again.

I have thought about taking a 9-5 job just to have a reason to get up in the morning. Maybe its a goog example that some people need a dayjob to feel human or am i just doing something wrong? What the fuck is going on with me /biz/? Im 29. Anyone feeling the same way?

I cant imagine if you have literally millions and all this time, and nothing to do with it. A few years ago i wouldnt have believed either that im going to ramble about something like this, but thats the point where i am at the moment.

Inb4 kys.

Youre a human, and you need meaning and goals in your life. The lack of these aspects leads to purposelessness and depression. Thats why us people in the mental healthcare stress to get our patients of of their homes, and into meaningful activity where they hopefully experience self efficacy and social affiliation.

If one become a millionaire or retired you dont stop doing meaningful activity on a daily basis. You gotta change your goals and do whatever makes you happy longterm

Yeah you are. Everything you're saying screams depression. It's fine, depression is a spectrum, you're on the "not that bad" end.
Everyone needs meaning in life. Go volunteer or something, to give you small goals day to day, that make you feel good, and useful, and meaningful. Start looking at the future - where you want to live, marriage, kids, travel, whatever. Go take some classes in college that interest you, part time. Go learn to sail, or get scuba certified. Take horseback riding lessons - get the fuck out of the house. Start a garden, get a dog.
What you're describing is called "stuck in a rut", and it's common.

Im in europe, so somewhere around 2k € / 2.4 USD after taxes. It depends how many "extra development" the maintenance clients order. I think i have actually pretty much achieved my first financial goal, which is to be free from 9-5 job. It seems that i have to just learn to live my new life now. I have never felt the need for big houses or cars, i just wanted to be "free", and i am now. For some reason the existing clients pass on my contacts to new ones and the income increases steadily every month too. So i think its probably 3k € /m already EOY.

You need more. Not in a greedy sense, but you need to achieve, socialise in a meaningful way. Look at your life, you manage websites and make bank, its detached. You need life, people.

Reasses your goals, aim for humanitarianism. Take your earnings, learn a trade and build things in your community or in some shitty 3rd world country. Not into that? learn biochemistry & robotics, help out amputees. Look at occupational therapy, thats a good mix of psychology and psychical therapy

yeah get a parttime job for like 2 times a week. Do a job where you are required to walk around like working in a restaurant or something. walking around is very healthy and you are sitting and lying all the time OP. Humans should move not be stagnant all the time. Just enjoy being around weird people and do not take them to seriously. I also would just play loads of different videogames. So much videogames OP. do not miss out on trying them all out! also maybe try and become good at something artistic or start playing some sport. I was able to solve depression/not getting out of bed by figuring out a new challenge/purpose that I could work at and gradually progress at.
