What if someone made a cryptocurrency that had to be mined in a giant minecraft server

Let me tell you about Digibyte.

might sucker in some underage b& into getting addicted to crypto early. the big tobacco strategy, I like it

check out HunterCoin, the mining of that coin is somehow done through playing a game. I was gonna throw a hundred bucks at it a month ago or so but then bitcoin crashed the markets

If the game itself was actually decent it could end up being huge. Imagine clans forming to protect their miners and raiding other clans in order to steal their wealth. Sort of like EVE Online but with IRL implications instead of pseudo-money. Skilled pvpers would become highly sought after millionaires. As the server progresses and the resources become increasingly rare miners would have to adapt and change their strategies. Makes me want to write a story about a dystopian society where many people work 10 hours a day playing a video game fighting over in-game resources

The minecraft server would be a centralized system for generating new coins, undermining (heh) the entire point of cryptocurrency.
