2. Cars? My first car was about 7 years old. I didn't get my first car loan until I was in my mid 30's, and even that was for a used car. I've never bought a new car before.

If there was a real difference, it was that we didn't have all of the expensive toys to blow our money on. For example, how many youngers today are bitching about the boomers while typing on a $700 phone. You say you can't afford shit? then don't piss your money away on shit.

The solution isn't magic. Almost all of my friends age 18-27 also live with their parents because we're in Washington state, where the taxes are getting extreme and the cheapest houses within 100 miles of decent work are 500k+ and rent for a single bedroom apartment is $1300+ a month. I'm 32 and doing extremely well financially despite not even having a college degree or trade. I'm just very frugal, I almost never eat out, I cook everything at home by myself, I don't buy new gadgets (my cellphone is like 6 years old, PC is 5 years old), don't care about namebrand clothes (just wear plain walmart t-shirts and blue jeans or khakis) shit like that, and I'm still reasonably "comfortable", I don't feel envious of anyone or deprived.

The result of that frugality? I have a 2 bedroom condo near downtown in my small city, fully paid off, I own a sports car, fully paid off (little older but in good shape, looks nice, runs well), and I have extremely low financial stress, lots in the bank, lots in crypto, very comfy.

Big things if you want financial freedom:

>don't compare your success to other people, or try to compete with other people
>find a good balance in life between earning a living, and being happy, and staying healthy, don't let one fall too far out of whack, as in don't chase money at the cost of being miserable and/or unhealthy.
