Anyone else here want to make money not to obtain status or power but purely for living the lifestyle they want and being away from poor people and criminals i.e. living in an upper-class area with low crime.

Essentially, anyone here just want to live in peace from it all and just enjoy themselves?

My dream is to get a modern apartment in an area with non-existant crime and just buy things that will come in handy like the latest tech and eat well and that's it, nothing else.

Yep, that's me - I just want to escape from the rat race. Not specifically upper-class or away from poor people or whatever, just away from the work-a-day world.

Maybe, but not me. I want this planet under my thumb.

Not gonna lie, your motivation to get rich is quite meh, shallow and uninspired tbh.

What a novel idea OP.

I was into making money all the while living in a shithole, high crime neighborhood being frugal with spending.

Turns out you can actually apply that money to make your life better.

Oh wait some people use money to obtain status and power ? That's two novel ideas in one post.

I'm taking a screen capture of this post.

Either you're trolling or disgustingly naive. You'd need to be in the top 10% of the US in order to achieve your goal.

yes and I achieved it. Got promoted recently to work on a quiet tropical Island in the pacific (local branch of the company I work for. They have a small office there for tax related reasons) I start there in a few months.

I had to suffer for several years though. I've seen 4 ambulances here in my street this week alone..

And with the salary I get I can live like a king there. Almost literally. Not that much I earn but everything is really cheap there.

I want money because it gives you freedom to do whatever you want. I don't care about shiny cars but I care about travelling and discovering the world. And you need muh money for that.

ok...the tropical island bit is awesome

so you want to live in rich people-burbs? have you ever lived in the burbs???

it is one of the circles of hell

fuck, i much prefer living in a rougher neighbourhood. it's a lot more interesting and vibrant.

>get rich, sit around in a glorified suburb and be bored.

i would rather shoot myself

I want to pursue my passions and surround myself with good people. I only need money to do that. So I'm looking for a career which doesn't drain me, and lets me get money. And which lets me work up to 40 hours and no more. Also job security.
Right now the security field is working. I'm on the lookout for better pay in my area. I'm also going to look at other fields of work. Dentistry might be a good fit.

I just want to ride motorcycles and have a decent country home.

As a shut-in NEET living alone in an upper-middle class suburb, I can confirm that I have acquired neither status nor power in any perceivable sense other than the funds in my bank account, while living well away from any poor people and crime.

OP, let me warn you that moving from a bustling city to a quiet suburb as I did just 4 months ago will severely deplete your chances of having any fun. I don't know whether you have a family, friends, or whether you're planning to live alone and isolated. I have nothing to complain about, here in my upper-middle class bubble, except for the fact that life has become excruciatingly bland. Consider putting it off until you're old and incapable of finding enjoyment anywhere other than your own home or the surrounding quiet streets.
