Popular brokers for stock trading:
Robinhood
>commission free and no minimum to open
http://www.robinhood.com

> How is it free?
Robinhood earns revenue by collecting interest on cash/securities and fees from their Robinhood Gold service

> It's been X days, why isn't my account verified yet?
Not being approved in 3 days seems to be the new norm. Nevertheless, call/email their support if you've been waiting more than that.

> When is it coming to my country?
The only "plans" are on an Australian and Chinese beta. Neither of which has gained much traction.

Interactive Brokers
>$1 commission per 100 shares. $10k minimum to open, $3k if 25 or under. Lowest margin interest. Free API access

TD Ameritade
>$6.95 commission per trade. No minimum to open. Fantastic data/charting through their free ThinkorSwim service

I was being facetious yesterday... I think we might actually be approaching new paradigm. When you've got fiscal conservative budget hawks like my self actually applauding government spending on shit infrastructure like the wall and bigger military something's definitely fucked up. Interest rates are going to continue to rise we all know it we all anticipate it so lets just prepare for it. I've said this before and I will say it again, sell bonds you don't even have. Just fucking sell them. We're all going to make it.

Ok say you take $100 and buy a bond that gives you 5% a year on that $100 for 10 years. Over the life of that bond it's worth $150 bucks or something. Say the next fucking day the damn rate goes up to 6% and you've changed your mind and want to get out of the bond so you can fucking buy something else. Well why would anybody buy your bond worth $150 when they can just get a fresh one worth $160. Somebody will buy it but you're not getting $100 for it! That bond is worth like $90 or some damn thing. I could figure out exact numbers and do the math if I wasn't hung over and had time to calculate it, but you don't have to have exact numbers to wrap your head around the fucking concept.

Lowering rates slows inflation. Cheap money means prices can rise because people can afford it. See median home price index charts in the wake of the '08 crash when quantitative easing kicked in. Mortgage interest rates got lower so it became cheaper to finance a house. More people were buying houses, more demand = higher prices.

This is post-gold-standard economics 101.

There are two investment strategies:

>1. If a thing goes up, you buy it; if it goes down, you sell it.
>2. If a thing goes up, you sell it; if it goes down, you buy it.

The first is sometimes called "momentum," and the second is sometimes called "value," but you can crudely shove pretty much any investment strategy into one of these buckets, or at least a combination of the two. For instance the first strategy could be called "short volatility": The more the market bounces around, the more you will be buying high and selling low, and the worse off you'll be. And the second could be called "long volatility": Deep value investors are thrilled to buy during market crashes, and market-makers who buy at a penny below the midpoint and sell at a penny above it do better when volatility goes up.

5. It's a lazy strategy but an effective one. The only problem is the amount of people who think like that can disguise where the bottom really is.

I guess so. The charts on weed/acb/aph are like a puppy pulling on a leash. Short violent tugs upward them right back down to the intraday mean. LET'S GO! No. Heel. Good boy. OKAY BUT GO GO GO! No. Heel.

Everyone knew that the gains were unreasonable.

There was no real reason why the dow would be up 9000 points since Trump was elected, and everyone knew that with rates being held artificially low for so long, the gains were fake.

So everyone has been waiting for a crash for at least a year. No one wants to get out too early, but it's deadly if you get out an hour too late.

So they've been waiting with their hands on the sell button, listening to the wind hoping to get out before the real crash hits.

Yea... A lot of the hype is already "priced in" and daytraders and such profit taking/swing trading pretty much every day. Pic related last trading day of 2017 and the dip from whales profit taking. (got out at 33 for tax reasons that day myself)

I'm not convinced the US is headed for bear market here. It's a sharp correction for sure but i'm not willing to concede a long term trend break just yet. Revenue numbers coming out below projections =/= BAD revenue for a lot of these blue chips.

So why does this "Dow" stock follow the same pattern as rhe Dow but increase 3x as much? Is it a safe stock to buy?
