You might be correct. But I don't think most people here have a technical understanding of how cryptocurrency works, so will continue anchoring towards BTC until the reality of the Death Spiral really kicks in (at this rate, I highly suspect it will be this month).
The markets, as a whole, got what they deserved today. Cryptocurrency was meant to liberate people from banking, not become an extension of it.
