Does anybody on here have a stock they recommend? Back in the good old days of /biz/ we had daily stock generals where many intelligent investors such as wipe offered their insights on the market, and people made hundreds of thousands on wise investments like shorting PRAN. Now it is mostly retarded high schoolers asking how to be like jordan belfort. People on here recently recommended AMRN and BLCM, and they both have had big gains. What are some other good stocks?
GMO
>>721439What do they do?I like JIVE
>>721421ISD is a cheap fun stock, bout to go big imo
>>721421I used to post stock picks a lot but was always heavily criticized to the point I said fuck it, most of you are cunts and don't want my input anyway, I'm sure I'm not the only poster who thought that either. Basically what I'm saying is, /biz/ deserves the state its in now.I.E. Some anon avatarfagging Yellen was ridiculing me on advising people to get into GM for a safe short-term position in October 2014 for example. And look at what the stock has done since. Stock threads could come back if someone reliably makes them and they manage to remain as civil and catch a loyal following, as /oilg/ has.
bought BLCM @ 26.3 earlier in the day it looked like it could breakout, but it dropped to around 25.9. Looks like its rebounding now, so I still might be able to make a couple hundred today.
>>721442it was the official pump and dump stock of /biz/

some anon recommended MBLTY the other day and it jumped 28% today. I did some research and its a sketchy japanese stem cell research company and I could barely find any news about it. Celgene just invested 50 million into MBLTY though, so they must have solid potential.
also I really like GILD it has a great P/E, amazing fundamentals, and a huge pipeline. It can only go up.

Idk about stocks but I've been trading UWTI when there's volatility, has served me wellWe're going into an "earnings recession" because of the harsh winter and the west coast port situation, so there's going to be quite a few good stocks coming in at a discount this month when they report less than stellar earnings
>>721589their greed will backfire
>>721632Naw son, welcome to pharms, GILDs power is their antivirals. So they spike p drastically if you predict outbreaks of the flu. (Ironically)
Anyone remember HYSR?
If you're looking long term at underdog stocks/want to diversify in energy without touching oil, go BTU. It's coal but it's the one company that has the best chance of withstanding the conditions for a brighter future. Between the EPA ("our decisions do not require us to consider the financial consequences" bunch of faggots), low nat gas prices and oversupply, China making a woopsy and slowing down its growth, clean coal being shut down, coal is really fucked over. Patriot went down the drain, I think companies like arch coal (ACI) and Walter energy (WLT) are going to be fucked soon as well. Especially because their coal distribution is not so diverse as Peabody's. After all is said and done, coal isn't going to be king again anymore regardless. But there's going to be a lot of dead companies and there will be someone standing at the top of the corpses taking a breather. BTU is that guy

CEMP is being heavily shorted.Next month a scientific paper will be released (from a hugely influential east-coast university) very critically questioning the dosage of Solithromycin (a class of Macrolide antibiotic) that the company used in its Gonorrhea trials, which had a 100% success rate. The paper will make the point that the company used nearly 300% of the dosage of the best existing Macrolide antibiotic and will point out that current Macrolides indeed have 100% success rate at high doses and therefore the successful trial that saw the company's stock rally does not constitute proof of efficacy.

Time to invest big time in Oil. Prices are going to go up to about 70-80$ a barrel by the end of the year.
>>721854EML or NTC
MCP is up to 95 cents from 40 cents a week and a half ago. and PWE is up to about 2.50 up from 1.98 when i found it about a week ago
>>721421The way I see it is look for stocks that you know have a high value. Wait for them to spontaneously drop. People will get scared and not invest in those when they see the down arrow. Invest in those. Eventually it will climb back to normal and when it does you could score a 10-20% profit.
>>724195How do you figure that?
>>724249US production slowing down (in North Dakota, according to Department of Energy) and chaos on Saudi's border (Saudi intervention in Yemen). Demand will also rise as we enter the summer period and people start taking vacations cross country.
HAL check its monthly and weekly charts.. BOOM
>>723969thats when i switch to bonds
AMD after the earnings report. We'll probably see a 10% loss or more in after-hours, like almost every time.
>>724255US production is slowing due to price dips, not due to a lack of availability. Rigs are getting better at pulling more oil up and are getting built more quickly, which points towards increased efficiency and lower production costs. The summer demand spike from the US has historically been in the 11-15% range, and that alone is not going to pull oil up 20-30 dollars per barrel. If the Yemen crisis is both not resolved by June, and has spread into Saudi Arabia, that could signal a stronger price spike based on volatility. If that were to happen, I doubt it would simply be a 20 dollar spike in price.
>>724613I don't think its even possible for oil to spike. Even the cartels will try and prevent that from happening.
>>724667OPEC is going to continue producing and selling oil at current prices to avoid losing market share like what happened in the 80's. They're already doing it so there's no reason that they would limit supply in a few months.
for long i'm going with Roundys (RNDY)they opened Mariano food stores in and around Chicago land area and are currently building new storesat current price $5.52 i can see it going into the teens by the end of the year

When you place a limit order, what price should you put? The ask, the low, the bid?
>>726242I place mine through schwab usually and I always just go a couple cents more than the ask just to make sure it gets fulfilled.Schwab is usually kind enough to somehow fulfill the order at beneath the bid price 50% of the time, or at the bid price about the other 50% of the time.I always do limit though, because market orders through schwab can literally result in any price... several percent more than what is actually showing as ask.

Check out Lannett, Ticker LCI.Generic pharmaceutical manufacturer. Generics are in a good position now thanks to the recent patent cliff that just happened so there's tons of available patents for their revenues to rise. Also what really separates LCI from other generic pharmaceuticals is that they're fully vertically integrated since one of their wholly owned subsidiaries "Cody Labs" is one of the 7 companies in the US with a license from the DEA to import poppy for use in producing active pharmaceutical ingredients (API). Basically since they control their own supply and don't have to go to a 3rd party manufacturer, their gross margins & profit margins are insane. Also they have very little debt, their EV/EBITDA is lower than industry peers, they've beaten analyst expectations for earnings for the past 12 quarters in a row, and they only have a 2 bil market cap so plenty of room to go and also they'd be a great potential acquisition candidate since the industry is consolidating and resorting to inorganic growth.
Some other solid picks atm are Underarmour and Bank of America (all big banks are really undervalued atm but out all of those BOA is the most since markets are overreacted to their legal expenses (which are lowering))
WSG - Decent company, hit hard by Ebola but with that clearing up, airport passenger numbers up and the ferry about to go live it's got good potential, overdue a run into the 30's,SGZ - Huge upside potential, very risky though.BLV - Results where solid, still seems cheap though, good buying opportunity?TEP - Up 5% from when I brought mid last week, possibly still undervalued because of the over reaction to the trading update. What do you think? I know it's a pretty risky portfolio but the potential upside is huge.

ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOLERS, want to double or even triple your money fast? Ill tell you how: Buy PRAN. Prana Biotechnology is a developmental stage biotechnology firm headquartered in Australia. They are in stage 2 trials for curing alzheimers and huntingtons. Their groundbreaking new treatment procedure represents a true paradigm shift in the biotechbology sector. Think if their drug is succesful (78% probability according to my analysis of the technical data; I have s PhD in medicine ) millions of people would pay any amount to save their loved ones. My calculations forecast that the market for neurodegenerative diseases is around 50 Billion per year, which according to my research would mean PRAN would be worth around $590 per share. My advice is to put your life savings into PRAN and also buy on margin for maximum profits. Also if you have a credit card, that is a great way to fund your brokerage account. Godspeed future Jordan Belforts! And remember, no risk no reward and F#!K the haters. A wolf does not care about what sheep think of him.

But honestly health in general is going to outperform so for more defensive investors ye olde pack of Pfizer, Novartis, Roche and the likes are also interesting as they provide some dividend which the former usually do not.
>>732831Other things I like right now are:-US car makers (GM/Ford) and specialty suppliers for the sector (like Alcoa/Nucor).-General "luxury" consumer spending based funds like Robeco Consumer Trends (has all the big brands asians/EM mid class will want more and more like apple, google, amazon, Facebook disney, nike, coca-cola, daimler and the likes).-Online retail winners like Asos, Zalando, Yoox, Rakuten, Baidu-Automatisation / Robotics: Kuka, ABBI'm also still a fan of global real estate funds (mostly to circumvent max stock allocations a lot of my more defensive clients are stuck to) like for example Blackrock Global Developed Real Estate Index Fund.-The more defensive portfolios have more common consumer goods than the above mentioned luxury goods. Safe havens like Nestlé and Unilever are nice things to have here.-I also believe oil (and thus big oil companies) might rebound a bit in the coming months so I have a position in Ishares Global Energy ETF -European mid/small caps have been lagging compared to large caps. More offensive portfolios are advised to have some allocation in for example Threadneedle EU smaller companies fund or a passive equivalent.-Also positive on Insurers that have good exposure in upcoming markets like Zurich Insurance Group or Prudential UK.Outlook negative on Utilities, Materials (miners mostly), banks (not insurers) and telecom.
Blue Star is one that's going to do very well in the next year.
>>732309Dude its an old /biz/ joke
>>732842Why negative on banks? The sector seems to be one of the last to still be cheap.

>>732014Four years and a Canadian stock exchange too late. The pone money was in DHX.TO for a ten baggerHAS had a great quarter, but it was mostly success on Transformers side and hype for Star Wars on the eve of the earnings report.
>>732350Regulations. Mostly tax, also lots of SEC regs. You're still a US resident if you travel abroad for vacation. Some brokerages can get around some of this by offering international accounts, but it costs a lot to set up the necessary subsidiaries. US-based XYZ Brokerage owns XYZTotallyCanadianEh, and all of a sudden, Canadian residents who can't sign up with XYZ can sign up with XYZTCE which looks a lot like XYZ's site. Difficulty: Probably not enough Canadians who value trading with XYZ to justify XYZ's setting it up. So XYZ doesn't bother, for most values of XYZ. Robinhood's a startup. Not interested in international market due to prohibitive costs of compliance. US regs are enough of a pain in the ass. Sucks for non-Americanons, but them's the breaks.
>>733466I'll play Devil's Advocate on that. If you're just starting out, these threads are a great excuse to practice your due diligence skills.Compare and contrast PRAN (a /biz/ joke) with AMRN (extraordinarily high risk scenario involving real biotech company doing real study, which one Anon called correctly shortly before they got the cash to make it through the end of their REDUCE-IT study), and GILD (an absolutely top-tier company making real money in biotech; you won't make double your investment overnight because nobody can afford to buy it out -- but because it's not reliant on just one drug, you won't wake up to see your screen reading -90% some morning after a failed clinical trial or adverse FDA decision.)There's three easy cases. I don't visit as often as I ought to, but I enjoy these threads because they help keep me sharp: I love looking at a new name, or an old name with a new perspective, and making a judgement about whether it's BS, something everybody already knows, or something that might be investable. I could theoretically accomplish the same thing with a dartboard and a printout of the stock section of the newspaper (do they even print stock quotes in newspapers anymore?), but this way is more fun.
>>732859This is mostly from a European perspective. Bank profits are not picking up at all (the margin between deposits and loans being at an historical low plays a part here) and valuations of banks. Even regarding the new BASEL rules a lot of banks in Europe (like Soc Gen and BNP Paribas) still look horribly overleveraged.Just feels like Banks with a big insurance branche or pure insurers will profit a lot more from the upcoming consumer in the near future.

You guys know that according to the theory active stock selection is kinda useless... especially if you only pick one without choosing an industry and without portfolio and without valuations, macro analysis, strategy investment, you are basically gambling.
VLTC BRO IT'S GONNA GO BACK UP I SWEAR
On the real though, right now I'm riding a rising pump of COCP until Tuesday, maybe tomorrow if it can't break resistance, and getting into GILD ahead of their earnings. After that, AKRX will be the next play coming into their earnings and a hopeful bounce off of the 41-42 range. AKRX has given some solid opportunities with shitty accounting, lawsuits, and earnings re-reinstatements. Solid company, but a couple accounting fuck-ups recently.
>>736547how about thishttp://pastebin.com/gWSLFpXkI can't be bothered to do any more, if I could I would make brief descriptions of various financial instruments, a brief section on critical thinking skills with intuitive diagrams I made earlier, I would also do a section on economics and startupsif anyone wants to pitch in that's be great, I realize this might be a bit lengthy so feel free to butcher it, I'm not bothered, but I think I have some good ideas, especially the start where I outline the problem with all the dumb "how to make money" threads in a concise and snappy manner

Someone explain this to me, and bear in mind I have like a fairly basic understanding of stocks and shit, but it interests me.If it's illegal for a stock broker to push shares of a shitty company on to his clients and then sell all of his shares as soon as his clients buy, is it also illegal for a load of people - e.g. right here on 4chan, to just gather round and say buy loads of these cheap stocks to drive the price up then sell them on at the same time. Or am I just a fucking retard. Or both.
>>737194aka pump and dump, yes it's illegal, but I doubt 4chan would be able to pump more than 10,000 into a single stock.
>>737201I see, so it's only illegal after selling so many shares?
>>737205Kinda, a better way to put it is, its illegal once you have enough power to actually move a stocks price. You can give advice/your opinion but you can't formulate a plan with a group of people etc afaik
>>737212Hey thanks man. So, theoretically a board of forum could do it? But it'd be hard because the more people that are in on it, the less money they get at the end? And with less people in on it it's harder to shift the price of the stock.
>>737236theoretically yes, realistically it'd pretty much be impossible to accomplish (having random strangers trust random strangers), but for people with high connections it is possible.
>>737246Alright cheers bud
Why are certain people so against day trading? It's like they ignore the potential success, they scoff at "timing", and treat it like it's mutually exclusive to owning long term investments. You can do both and have success with both. Obviously you can't actually predict the market, like you can't predict the success of long term investing (which I'm not saying isn't safer), but you certainly can make a calculated risk day trading. It's not like there aren't any indicators about how a stock might do.
BIB down 8,26% today.GGIndia is getting fucked up too.YTD +24,18% so no panic.
>>737261I definitely agree with you, but chances are 99% of the people on here (a chinese cartoon imageboard) are likely amateurs, who would fuck up and lose it all. Day trading isn't for amateurs, investing is more forgiving. Its probably best to discourage people than to encourage it here.
>>737349The problem is those same amateurs then start spouting how retarded anyone is for putting their money in anything but index funds.

How do you all actually pic what stuff to buy?How do you make the decision when to buy?I currently have about 7k€ lying around uselessly, and I'd like to invest them, but all stocks/companies I am interested in are at their all time highs. Now I am interested in them, because I think they do have a good future, but on the other hand, I also think most markets are overvalued, and ripe for a crash, that will drag down even those companies that are solid. And just buying some stocks of companies I dont know/dont understand, just because someone reccomends them also doesnt sound too wise.what do?

Whats the verdict on twitter? It just kinda crashed, but I'd say twitter is here to stay. But then on the other hand, I still dont get how they will earn real money, and they are still way higher than they used to be a year ago.To buy or not to buy?
Also, feel free to ridicule my newest shopping spree.Kinda related question:Is it just me, or is most stuff that gets pushed here penny stocks? Apart from the occasional GM and Tesla, I only see fucking tiny companies I have never heard of.Now i do understand that the biggest gains are to be had at small, new companies that will go to the moon, but for every sucessful moon landing, there is going to be a hundred challenger catastrophes…Or is it just that biz cant afford to "invest" more than a few bucks at a time?If not, I am really curious about penny stocks. As said, I dont really believe in them as a sole way to becoming rich, but can those be a reasonable addition to a portfolio mostly made up of big stocks and funds? I could easily afford to risk a few hundred €, but first I would like to read me a bit into the topic, to come to my own judgement.
>>738070A type of option where you either make a ton of money or lose it all. You bet on whether a stock will rise or fall in a given time frame. You can make a ton of money with low capital, but it is basically gambling.

can anyone explain why LMT has been tanking so much recently?
>>738867Twitter can be too weak. I'd say buy at 30 for sure, it might be a target for M&A that low, I know Microsoft would love Twitter because they would have the #1 video chat and text chat service for example, imagine Windows 10 with Twitter exclusives like some new functionality, it would be huge for them. Would make some Apple users think twice anyway because they are usually addicted to Twitter and shit like that.TL;DR if Twitter hits 30 someone might offer to buy it driving the price up a few bucks.

Penny stocks also fluctuate within the same sorts of variance you see in normal stocks, obviously on a micro scale, so there are day trading gains to be made there, too.
