/biz/ is full of reddi.t overflow now, and thinks btc/eth are locked in some shitty flippening war. They're not. You don't need to shill eth, everyone here already uses it.

You must understand Bitcoin is Bitcoin. Nobody owns bitcoin despite what shills will tell you. BTC won't go into freefall if blockstream was nuked, like when fake news of Vitaliks death crashed eth. Users control BTC - look at the failed 2x fork, cash, etc – the network goes where people want it to go. ETH is a great technology, but it still has central influence (DAO hardfork, ethereum foundation, etc). Good for efficiency, but not great for decentralization. The genesis of Bitcoin can never be replicated in crypto again. Improvements are slow to be implemented, and that is a good thing - it takes unanimous consensus, and that should not be easy to reach. If Bitcoin fails, the very fundamentals of cryptocurrency fail. Both BTC and ETH have important, but different roles in the future of cryptocurrencies.

Who is on top of market cap doesn’t mean shit when the whole thing fails. Newfags need to understand this. If ETH is meant to be economically successful, it will get there, but you’re an idiot if you want to see BTC fail.

If it is practicality and usefulness in the real world that give value, what is the value of a token ? None in my opinion. The value resides in the technology and principles behind it.

Banks can simply create a group, settle a common set of specifications, implement the technology and sell the service back to you instead.

I think one shouldn't seek value in the tangible usefulness of a cryptocurrency.
