in terms of scarcity that's the equivalent of holding 25 bitcoin 20 years from now (when skycoin distribution is complete) or about 220 bitcoin now.

Of course adoption levels are completely different, so I can't really answer for you where the value will be. I'd say Skycoin has received much less attention than ethereum had when it was $20, and the circulating supply is MUCH lower.

I'm not expecting it, but I wouldn't be shocked if skycoin got over 500 this year. I also wouldn't be shocked if it stayed under 100 this year. I like to underestimate and be surprised. Skycoin has value to gain, most holds have value to lose.

If somebody can't put the thing together on their own, I don't want them in the testnet slowing everybody else down. Plus I don't want to have to wait and pay somebody else to put together mine, or pay a markup. Acutally I got it BELOW cost because of the Skycoin rebate. Mine ships on the 10th I think. I also ordered some spare parts so I can build a 4-board miner to put at my friend's house.

To be clear, the v1 skyminer isn't even the hardware they are building. They are contracting their own routers, hardware wallets (like you mentioned), long range directional wifi antenna (still a long ways out), and more.

People that think this is a scam must lack the intelligence to actually grok the project. I get it, it's fucking ambitious, massive, sprawling, etc. But it's already more than half done. The part people think makes it a "scam" is just icing on the fucking cake.

There's already ICO's launched on skyledger. the coin rapes the fundamentals of any other coin, the blockchain language CX is a real C based programming language, not a half0assed "smart contract" script. Fuck man, if I tried to even mention every component in one post the thread would 404 before I finished.

The 'solutions' to the problems of blockchains just add needless complexity to the system. There are simpler solutions out there. For example free transactions with their 'coin-hours' concept is kinda retarded. Now you've got to hold 2 coins to be able to send 1. Then there is the mitigation against 51% attacks. A better solution to this is just using PoS like ETH will. All you need to do is fork the chain and delete the funds of the attackers on the new chain. Done, presto. Also there is no infrastructure for its 'new' internet. People have to share their own normal internet connections. This has many legal ramifications. One of which being that because you are profiting for from sharing your connection, you are legally responsible for the content that goes through your connection. Everyone renting your connection from you is completely anonymous, but the content you're pulling from the web is not. If someone wants to get child porn you're fucked. Tor is different from this in that no one profits from running a node, and so no one is held responsible. So I think the project is very Utopian and not realistic, no matter how talented the devs are.

During the testnet official hardware is incentivized because in the first stage having everybody on different hardware adds unpredictable complexity. So your contribution will not be as valuable. In later stages, it might be more valuable, to ensure functionality on various hardware. When bitcoin launched, you had to mine on a CPU. Then you COULDN'T mine on a CPU, and had to use a GPU (to contribute effectively). now you have to use an ASIC. So yes, using the literal carbon-copy hardware will be incentivized during testnet launch.

You won't be shunned, if that's at all a component of your inquiry. I've seen TONS of moral support on skywug, skywire telegram, etc. for people going it on their own. But first things first. Figuring out how to get everything perfect on 500 different motherboards running 10 different operating systems would be a huge setback to the beginning testnet. Plus this is one of the last OTC distribution sales (the skyminer rebate in skycoin).

>> No.7238485

I'm also considering bulk building them and distributing locally. For sale, lease, on commission, barter, etc. But I'm gonna wait for the testnet before pulling that trigger. I live in a decent area culturally and geographically for this sort of project. A mid-sized "hip" city with lots of tech and business students, and several world-class entrepreneurs. And lots of semi-rural expansion potential for long-range meshnet. Already in communication with somebody else halfway toward the nearest metropolis.
