It seems every niche has a dominant player. What's left of opportunities in Entrepreneurship?

>It seems every niche has a dominant player.
It's a sad day when someone can spout that sentence and call himself an entrepreneur

Every dominant player can loose out to someone better, cheaper or more popular

Microsoft vs Apple is a good example

You can also invent stuff that are niche: I have a collegue who makes BBQ-related items. He is slowly building up his costumer base with his somewhat new ideas that actually haven't been tried before, or at least haven't broken through, and he already has competitors that have stolen his design and get them manufactured in China. But the quality is worse, and his is manufactured here in the country, so he has quality and nationalism going for him, despite higher prices, and is actually becoming more and more succesfull. The other week he sold for 8500 dollars in his webshop. Another thing he does is that if people order his product in bulk (a store for instance), he will personally deliver the order within a large distance, because he wants to become known not only for a good product but also for excellent service (which really means a lot to people)

How did he break into the industry?

Was he an enthusiast for BBQ-related items or was all this done through market research?

I'd love to tell you and help you out but that'd reduce my chances of becoming the dominant player in it.
