Another seller I bought thousands of games from got in on this and was going to keep me posted if he could make money with it so I could buy the codes off of him like a middleman. Thing was though that people needed to have a specific OS in order to be able to use his codes. So of course he sold like 10 but nearly all came back wanting refunds.

I know it's a good idea to sell something niche that might be hard to find, but does it have to be something you are an expert in? Or can you get away with selling something you dont know much about. I know it's a vague question, but do any sellers have experience?

You don't have to be an expert in any feild but it helps. Like I know a lot about video games and related collectibles and some semblance of pop culture, so I seek those out mostly. Anything I don't know the price of I just look up and see what price it is available at, selling history, shipping costs, etc. I bought something before for $1 and sold for $300, didn't really know what it was when I bought it.

Big rule you should remember is, just because you yourself wouldn't buy it, doesn't mean someone else won't.

Shipping about 30-50 auto parts a day-Monday through Saturday.

Let's keep it simple and say 100 bucks for a shipment, so you do the math.
The shipments are only increasing in number,
Two years ago, it was probably 15 shipments a day.
It's a team of 5, and 4 are mechanics with zero computer saavy.

The American seller above is prob selling without tracking and using the stamp method...for he's under 2k feedbacks, which means he's prob having to use the $1.93 like everyone else.

Look into FedEx/UPS/DHL smartpost, this is what sellers use nowadays to make shipping dirt cheap. But that means the package takes 3-5 days more to arrive...so angry buyers - less buyers.

As far as product, I can get 1000 cheap plastic stylus delivered to my house from china for $70 with shipping.

Everyone either uses the eBay group listing or has another program. There are systems that let you post the same description on all your listings...then of course you'd have to edit EACH ONE to put the right info for that specific item.

eBay is like the greasy management office of a flea market in Dallas, TX where you pay for a metric shit ton of foot traffic but hardly anyone pays attention to your booth because nobody can be bothered to give a fuck.

Let me learn you youngn's some sales knowledge.

1) Stick to what works. There was a man who sold honey at the market and he did so well that he decided to branch out into jam. He put his jam on the table and to his disbelief his sales plummeted. The following week he removed the jam and his sales returned to normal. Lesson learned: people are easily confused; don't put too much on their plate.

2) A quick fifty cents is better than a slow dollar. You have invested $50 in plastic yo-yo's at 20 cents a piece. That gives you 250 yo-yo's. You price your yo-yo's at $1.00. However, you only sell 10 yo-yo's in the fist three hours, leaving you with only ten dollars revenue. You adjust your price to $.50 and sell the rest of your yo-yo's by the end of the day, giving you $130 in revenue counting the ten you sold before the adjustment. This leaves you with $80 in profit before expenses.

HOWEVER, the greasy flea market management (eBay) takes 10% off the top leaving you with only $67 profit, AND the gas to get to the market (PayPal) cost 3% of your daily sales leaving you with $63 in profit for the days work.

Now, assuming that you are bold enough to adventure into the land of sales again you will have to invest $50 more into your wares to have enough merchandise to sell the next day, leaving you with $13 profit after everything is said and done. However, you realize that if you buy more merchandize you can sell more yo-yo's and make more profit tomorrow so you invest all $63 into yo-yo's and now instead of 250 you are able to afford 315 yo-yo's giving you a potential revenue of $158.

This is how eBay keeps it's army of automaton sellers regurgitating the same bullshit wares day after day.

As your sales grow so does the work load. 4) Time is more important than money. Isn't the reason you spend time trying to acquire money so you can have more time to yourself in the long run? My point is, don't become a slave to eBay or a flea market or anyone. Be an entrepreneur. Always think on your feet and do the math. eBay is a gnarled greasy dildo as far as I am concerned. I import pretty small term. Shipping is the worst part of china. It's expensive to get anything here unless by sea. To ship by sea you wait months and you need to buy by container load. This basically leave courier (most likely DHL). You're small time, so you're pretty much at their mercy for the cost.

The other half of the issue is shipping to buyers for you. The best way to avoid this is to qualify for first class package pricing. For this it needs to weigh less than 13 ounces. Once you get past that your shipping costs basically double.

So this is my first time purchasing something from a private seller on eBay but I feel as if i'm getting scammed
For instance, I won the auction for an item I wanted on the 12/4/2015 (4/12/2015 american date) and payed on the 13th.
The paypal transaction went through and everything is cleared money wise as I was told by the seller once i contacted him asking if the money went through
So a couple of days past and I asked him if he had shipped the parcel yet since he had not marked the item as shipped

If you already have some good feedback from your latest sales, they'll just go "according to our policies we should wait, but I'm super cool and I'm gonna ask my manager to raise them", make you wait 2 minutes while they gather around and laugh at you waiting on the line and finally tell you that the manager said yea and you'll get the increase. And there is a 0 to 100 dollar spread between all similar condition widgets on sale.
Meaning 0 spread is the lowest priced widget, 100 is the most expensive.

You did your research and your widget falls at 40 on the scale, a little less than the average price because you want to sell it soon.

Asshats won't start off with a '0' price, their offer is on the negative scale, like -30.
No one is selling a widget in that condition for anywhere near that price.
You counter them by dropping '10' and going down to '30' and they counter back with -10 instead.
You both waste your time and the deal goes no where.
And these are the kinds of offers you get flooded with if you have a popular item, like some apple product or samsung phone

I do pretty much the same, and am now expecting a sample of a very promising product that's killing it in the US eBay and others but none is selling it in my country. People here even buy it from the US sellers and wait 2 fucking weeks to get the item. Plus, selling for even the same price as the US sellers still gives me a very good profit (which I will of course increase anyway).

Pretty excited about this one. I hate waiting for samples!

I sold a calculator a few weeks ago and it arrived according to tracking 10 days ago. Today the buyer opens a return case saying it's not working.

This guy has 0% feedback and took 10 days to open a return case.

I think he just broke it or is trying to do a switcharoo.

Same thing happened to me with one of my products. A 0 feedback user that had just created the user the same day she bought my product opened a case because the product was 'used' and not brand new, 10 fucking days after receiving it.

I don't know what your chances are of winning the dispute, but I'd say they are slim. There's no way you can prove that the calculator was working, and as you know eBay backs the buyer always.

In my case I spare myself the headache and told her to return it and I'd refund it. Then I resold it, so I just lost a bit on the shipping but still made profit. I suggest you do the same. If he's lying and it's working, you can sell it again, and asking for the return before refund is fair enough. However, the shipping will most likely have to be on you (as the item is 'broken', so 'your fault'), so you balance your margins there.

Assholes are part of the business. If you're doing this as a regular biz, just give the fuckers a refund and forget about it. There are way more honest buyers than dishonest ones; fighting these assholes will only bring you headaches and bad feedback.

See I sometimes sell inventory that hasn't arrived, but I only do it if there's no bad weather ahead + only 2-3 days(max) before it arrives.

Not a good practice though, for when I did it for this item >>734188 I found the Chinese supplier actually lied saying he shipped it when he didn't. It should have arrived on the 20th but arrived on the 24th...

Had to tell my buyers USPS was undergoing updates or some bs I made up...

More than a few times buyers told me the next fucking day that their address was incorrect.

Also I've been holding onto a game that was sold early March, returned as undeliverable address. I've messaged the buyer, tried calling them but the phone number was no longer active and it's been sitting here for almost a month now. Do you know if the money gets taken back or not?

We finally agreed on him buying one of my $5 products and I would use the money to change his shipping address.

Seems you've already done your part, I usually just message them once asking them for the new address + shipment fee. I have about 4 or 6 items laying around that were sent back. After a month you should be safe...

What are good selling items that give ok profit?
I used to be a gamer, so i'm selling old games. but it's hard to make a profit with selling new games because people will rather buy from established sellers.
I'm just selling random crap now too and seeing how popular it is. Like ancient computer parts (sell bad), coathangers i stole from a store (practically worthless), textbooks (sell for a lot but only if students need them, i.e. very old textbooks are worthless).
What should I sell?
