No, it actually was all a fad.

Some really lucky and/or smart people got super rich, otherwise it was just a temporary insane version of the stock in which useless assets were traded and fucked around with on the internet while it lasted, ie. a big get rich quick scam taken advantage of by a bunch of Millennials and opportunists.
