What methods does /biz/ use to advertise small-time services?

My base salary is good enough to live on, but I want more so I'm starting a few projects. One, while pathetic, had low costs and immediate returns: Resumes

I put up a craigslist ad to write people's resumes for them for some spare change. After a dozen or so (including VP of Sales, Chemist with patents, Senior Financial Analyst) I realized I could go bigger. I've tripled my prices and I'm looking for ways to advertise properly so I get more then 1-2 clients/month.

I tried flyers posted around community centers, grocery stores, and campuses (which wasn't easy since most hate when you advertise for-profit), and I kept my ad up. I'm contemplating making my own website on wordpress but that, too, would need to be advertised in order to be of any use.

My end goal is to get enough of a client stream to start hiring other writers as well and turn this into automated revenue, but first I need to work on getting it going myself.

Recommendations? Also, advertising thread.

I am a freelance writer and I put my services up on apps like fiver and task rabbit.
Also I do have a website that has samples of what I do and an email box so people can request a free kit to glance over. All of this is held up on a few adword placements and facebook ads targeted at new graduates.

It's not a lot of money but I am profiting and growing. I suggest taking some time out one weekend and learning how to have precise ads on freelance apps.

For craigslist I used Paypal, now I'm moving on to check by mail or (if they're local) I've considered cash pick-up.

My PayPal is still running strong so I figure that would be the most common method. Losing 3% sucks, but when I first started it wasn't really about the money; it was about learning a skill that I could sell. (My employers own all rights to my software skills.)
