Can someone explain to me why Stellar would have anything do with the Lightning Network?

As far as I can tell the LN is a kind of bandaid solution to Bitcoin's terrible scaling, and it's a terrible solution at that. It's basically only useful for two agents who regularly make a large volume of transactions between each other. It has no usage for 90% of transactions that just need to go from one wallet to another which have never sent to each other before and never will.

Stellar is already fast because it is better designed than Bitcoin, and Stellar can actually replace LN as a way to transfer any commodity to any other, so what is the point of integrating with LN and how would it even work? Sounds retarded and goes against everything that Stellar is about.

Considering I posted a whole XLM thread yesterday with everything that is relatively well known about the whole project, and the speculation surrounding the roadmap, nobody should TRULY be surprised. The only way the roadmap dropping would've caused the price to spike is if they announced the partnerships that they have or are working on, all of which is well known already. Stripe, IBM pushing XLM through GBS, FairX, the Swedish national bank... if you're butthurt that they didn't talk about those things in the roadmap, you're obviously not doing your research and really couldn't give a shit about this coin (and in that case, go ahead and sell to someone who doesn't have tissue paper hands or actually knows the coin's potential). Not to mention they're not going to straight up announce partnerships that they've had that everyone knows already, or announce ones that have yet to happen "officially." The system and network is being tested in a lot of relevant applicable places right now, it's up to the client to decide if it works for them; if it works, then you can expect partnership announcements, but they're not going to put things that may or may not happen on their roadmap. All Stellar really has to do this year is work on their product, release their exchanges when they're finished and tested, and everyone else will do the rest of the work for them. Insiders talk to each other you know, Stellar doesn't have to go around knocking doors down for partnerships if big names are already ecstatic about it. The rest will fall in line.
