Etrade fees are around 20-25 per trade I forget. I don't mind the tiny bit higher fees vs. Others like scotttrade. They are the biggest stock broker for a reason. There customer service is excellent

Do not become a short seller/day trader. You will never aquire any significant amount of wealth. Never mind the ridiculous fees.

Do not try to the time the market. Follow your Instinct and invest in stocks with a big story to them such as AMRN is having right now.
