When I was a small kid I once bought a pirated game. The dude who sold me was so lazy and incompetent that he didn't even include a crack. That was before I had internet so the game was basically useless.

Got scammed during a dogecoin trade on a forum (back when it was around its highest value)....

If I remember correctly, it was 100K dogecoins that I was trading, for whatever equal value of litecoin it was at the time. The other dude had good rep for previous trades, also good positive feedback on his profile from other members who traded with him, and I was a brand-new forum member with only 2 posts and zero rep/feedback....

He pulled the whole "how do I know I can trust you; you're brand new" thing on me (which was honestly a fair point). Tried to find an independent escrow for the trade fast but nobody was available at the time, and I was impatient. So I agreed to do four mini-trades in order: 10K doge for an equal value of litecoin from the guy, then 20K doge, then 30K doge, then the remaining 40K doge. I sent my dogecoins first for each trade (I didn't mind risking potentially being scammed out of 10K doge, since that amount was only around $12 at the time)....

The 10K, 20K and 30K doge trades went just fine; I got the litecoins each time, and I thought he was legit as a result....

You can guess what happened when I sent the final 40K dogecoins.....

When I kept pm'ing the dude about the remaining litecoin, he 'apologized' for the scam with some bs excuse about school expenses, and doing whatever he needed to do to pay bills, and some other nonsense. I honestly would've preferred he just called me a dumbass and linked a 'u mad' image or something....

Anyway, lesson learned, though....it was around $48 in dogecoins if I remember correctly....not a huge amount, but still......

I expected to be alone with someone because that's how they made it sound like on the phone. at the end of the presentation and phony interview, I got "hired" along with everyone else, but I never went back to that place. Depends what you're in to, personally I hate clubs and the ones in Shanghai aren't that great but if you can find someone that works as a promoter on wechat or irl it's a good way to get free drinks and maybe pick up girls

I much prefer a place like M1NT which is expensive but the crowd is better and the bar is decent.

There's also loads of identical foreigner bars like Perry's or Demarcia, those are the places I had the most fun at.

During the day though I can't recommend much besides trying all the touristy things. If you like the smell of rotten chicken and crowds of sweaty Asian people maybe check out one of the old water towns. After about a month I found myself just shopping every day.

My entire family is pretty much a bunch of losers and alcoholics with very few exceptions. I always knew i wanted to go to university so i saved up all the money i ever got for the first 18 years of my life (Im serious, i never even bought as much as a choclate bar when i was a kid). When i was 17 my mom left and i havent seen her ever since.We had to move to a smaller flat and money was really tight for my Dad at the time (at least he claimed that) but he knew i had all that money saved up ( ~7000€ at the time) so he asked me if I could "help him out". Well i did, obviously. He was pretty much all the family i had left and he swore he would start paying me back as soon as he got his next paycheck. Well he didnt. a few months later I asked him if he could afford to start paying me back because i graduated and I was about to start uni. He just freaked out and yelled at me for "beeing an arrogant asshole" and he claimed he would pay me as soon as he could and im basicly worse than Hitler for even mentioning it. I later found out he gave all of my money + like 10000€ he stole from his parents + 20000€ he got from loans he took (and couldnt afford ) to some 19 year old junkie whore who blew it all on meth. Never trust anyone with money. NEVER. That was a pretty expensive lesson for me.

Immediately had some scummy looking Romanian speaking jibberish to me but I deducted that he wanted money for the ring. I went to an atm and paid him 10 euro for the piece of shit ring, he wanted more but I walked away.

It was only 10 euro but I felt like a dirty person afterwards when I realized what had really happened. When you're in foreign country and don't understand what's going on, you gotta be on high alert not to get scammed.
