Don't sweat the negative. Most people are smart enough to look at feedbacks if they're concerned about a non-100% and they'll read comments. Just comment on how the buyer was and people will understand.

I sell things under 3oz (most of my inventory) so I don't even need much space to store it. It cost only $1.93 to ship.

Not a good plan imo, you're selling heavy products and you're a new seller, two things that should never cross.

If you were a long time seller you would know how to ship those heavy things for 1/4 the price you'd be paying (which is up to $50 per order seeing that you said Furniture).

I have a question for eBay sellers about a I've had.
All these Chinese sellers are listing cheap products with free shipping from China. What is stopping me from relisting them, then when a customer makes a purchase from me I just order from the Chinese seller and type the buyers address? I might be listing it higher than the original, but with no actual cost on my side, if someone doesn't do proper price comparison I'm bound to earn some money that way. Or am I missng something.

Is there a way to ship small, low value items with tracking for cheap? I've got a bunch of items I'm selling for $2.50 with free shipping. After fees are taken out I have $2.12. It costs me $.32 to make the product and the cheapest shipping I could find was $1.93. So I'm out .13 on each transaction. I took a chance with the piece I just sold shipping it with no tracking via First Class large envelope for 98 cents but I don't want to keep doing that. Otherwise I'll probably just start bundling them together in packs of 10 or something.

What I do on the side is go to a thrift shop and buy something I know has value like shoes, shirts, etc and resell them but that gets boring from time to time and it can get slow.

I'm going to make a foray into the Chinese import business via Alibaba soon, and right now I'm deciding between products. I'm looking at three general areas: electronics, bathroom and kitchen fixtures, and military surplus. I've found products where I could make a $15-$20 profit on each, and now I'm trying to narrow it down to one for now.

I've got two questions. First, are electronics as bad an idea as I've heard? Many people advise against importing Chinese electronics. Second, if I'm not the cheapest (though I plan to be), highest rated seller, can I expect any purchases? I mean, I'm not selling really expensive shit but I personally wouldn't but a $40-$80 product off Amazon with no reviews. I'm also planning on using Amazon and Ebay exclusively to begin.

Yes I'll say his items are above mine most of the time but it just depends. If you're not selling it, your item will gradually move down. We both sell the same but buyers choose on who to buy from. Take for instance, I for one would rather buy from a seller with fewer feedbacks, why? Because he's bound to help me out because he knows what I can do to hurt his account. So my purchase should arrive quicker. Also it feels more like you're talking to the seller one-on-one. Big sellers usually take more time to respond due to multiple questions.

No, they won't. I've heard of people who bought 10 items, then 100 and then increased it.

At first you ask for "samples" from the manufacturer, typically a small shipment (~10 items, also depends on what you're buying) and then you check if those samples sell.

Then you order more and so on.

OP have you thought about creating a e-commerce store instead of selling on e-bay (or just having a store + selling on ebay)

Guys... I just figured out my product. It covers 2 different niches with millions of possible customers. It's small, and very easy to get my hands on. Has great margins too. For anybody looking for a product, here's one that I'm too big a pussy to do cause I'm scared of the FDA/don't want to hurt people with shitty medical supplies. But I think it's a good example.

You can get Chinese HIV test kits for $.5 and sell them for $20, $10 less than the nearest competitor. They're light and easy to ship. I'd advise against such a product, but that's an example of a gold mine if you're not scared of the FDA (is obviously not FDA approved, like its competitor) and have more faith in it than me (I think it's probably a piece of shit that will kill someone and get me sued/sent to hell). But yeah, do the math, those are the sorts of opportunities you can find.

Doesn't even follow elementary grammar rules. We're in university. I know I go to a third rate party school, but really? 54% acceptance rate, so it isn't like this is community college.

Hopped on ebay: it did, but was sold only by chinks (they had like 600 units sold, even though the shipping takes 1-2 months), so you'd just import that and people would buy exactly the same thing from you, but the shipping would take maybe 3 days.
