This 'best fit' for a job with heavy traveling is one who is so work focused that they will not try to put their personal well being ahead. You stated that you have a life outside of work and odds are that made HR upset.

Yea you messed up, but you need to ask yourself, would you really have wanted to been in a place where they are looking for someone with no life?

The real question here is would you want to be traveling 10 months a year and be in a relationship?

Do you have a realistic outlook what this job might mean to your personal life? First, it's a bit of a naive first impression. Second, you might become a liability to them.

Then again she can't legally ask you that, nor should it influence her decision but we both know better.

If you're in a relationship then you probably won't like being in a job where you're traveling for 10 months a year; chances are you'll cheat on her / she'll cheat on you etc.

Why would you even be applying for a job with that much travel if you're in a relationship? What you should have said is "It's not a very serious relationship" or something along those lines - Because if you're serious about the job then the relationship ISN'T serious.

Dude I think what that's code for is that they're looking for closers and somebody who is tied down at a young age isn't a closer with women so how are they going to close a CEO...
