Why aren't you pursuing a career in insurance, /biz/?

>> No.639939

I've been at an insurance company for the last 12 years.

Noice, brokerage or underwriting?

Property and casualty. Although I work in IT, so I don't really care about a lot of the business side of things.

>> No.639993

What kind of qualifications do you need to get into selling insurance?

>> No.639994

>>639938

Because I have a soul.

Basically this.

If you want to sell the kind of insurance that actually makes you money, you need to lack all empathy.

I was thinking about going to school for actuarial science but I hear it's very difficult to pass the exams

I would be okay with this. I'm known for not being very empathetic as it is.

It's actually pretty competitive these days. Lots of small firms chomping at the bit.

Plus they are the ultimate shills. Insurance is perhaps the single most shillworthy thing a person can do. Selling thin air, using a vehicle of fear, and profiting off misery.

Seems pretty horrible to me. In a perfect world insurance wouldn't need to exist. Neither would lawyers. but we live in the real world.

It's harder than you think. I knowingly fuck people financially. It hurts to have someone thank you for adding $30k worth of debt to their plate.

I sell timeshare. We've had insurance salesmen quit due to moral hangups.

>> No.640072

Makes me wanna become an insurance salesman, retail sales here, make good money, but revenge would be even better.

>> No.640077

Insurance has too many regulations placed on it.

It's all about that extended warranty business now if you want to swindle people out of their money legally.

>> No.640082

Add ons are great, but if love to sell my key product with some margin in it.

>> No.640085

It's not difficult (at least the first 5 ones), but actuary is a boring job.

Good thing we don't live in a perfect world then you moron

Look into commercial lines breh, that's where the money's at. Guaranteed business at all times due to regulations placed upon businesses, with a very low chance of actual outflow.

>> No.640122

but-but you are selling them peace of mind?

Cheers breh

>distant american family comes over to visit, multimillionaires
>they leave
>find out last week that they took pity on me and offered me a chance to go to high school/college in America and if I proved myself I'd be given a six figure position at their insurance company
>my family never told me about the offer because they didn't want me to go
>would have done it instantly
>they act offended when I get platinum mad and they say 'what, do you not care about us here' and 'money isn't everything' 'it was for your own good'
>still neet shut-in

That's why I don't have a career in insurance.
