I'm hoping he checks into this thread.

His paper doesn't expire till february.. i am curious to see whether he locks it all in today, or lets it ride!

Apple at it's P/E and cash hoard with a strengthening dollar, and app store/eco system has been such a no brainer for so long that I don't know what the market is doing here. Apple has been seriously undervalued for almost a decade now.

18 billion in profit in 3 months. industry leader in their sector, with a premium branded product. p/e of 16... crazy pills...

over 70% of my portfolio has made me 45% returns over the last year.

I invest in what I know. My portfolio isn't a stupid "I'm just gonna pick the top 2 firms in all industries and let it ride" portfolio. I actively manage it based off current market performance and based on what I know.. I do technology for a living so i find it pretty easy to pick winners in this sector.

I've beaten the market every year for the last 5 years...

Go enjoy your diversification man. I hope it goes well for you.

Isn't it true for like every professional broker ever that they tell you diversify your portfolio so that few stocks don't end up giving you aneurisms if it happens to crash?
I thought that was a basic agreed upon thing in investments

It is true that they do that. And they don't get the returns I do.

They also tell you that because being in 20 companies instead of 5 means 4 times as much trade commission for the brokerage.

I'd rather have steady returns of .15% daily than putting my money in the most risky sector. Going from -$5000 to $10000 is hardly anything to brag about, it just goes to show you're just betting on luck. Yahoo doesn't even give out dividends ffs.

-5k and +10k is only up and down 2.5 and 5% of my portfolio.

You make it sound worse than it is because I am working with large numbers.

Once you are up 40 or 50 grand, you don't sweat the idea that you could lose 25%... you're still covered at that point.

It's about picking value companies that are undervalued by the market... as apple has been - for forever. name another company that made 18 billion in profit last quarter...

>I've beaten the market every year for the last 5 years
I find it pretty weird that you say that when your portfolio mostly consists of 2 companies whos stock has been consistently rising over the last 5 years. Bother just slightly dipped at some point, Apple has been doing nothng but increase its share value for the last 2 years.

Considering the sales figures of the company you dont need to be jesus to tell that the stock will increase in value. What did they recently publish? They sold 70m iPhones? Its nice for you and all but please dont act like the investments you made were risky or exceptional. They were pretty foolproof.

Which is why diversification would have been risky.

and I haven't held these stocks for 5 years, I am in and out of things as I see fit..

referencing the fed minutes?

>> No.630522

yes. super uncertain now that ECB has rolled out QE, fed can't stay on course to raise rates unless they want to face super depreciation

>> No.630526

>>630518
>diversification would have been risky
Diversification isnt risky as long as the industry you invest in is foolproof. Which is only the case for the tech industry because we know that the development of new technology isnt going to stop, thats its impossible competitors to do anything on the market due to certain companies having specific amounts of control (Apple for example is foolproof on the phone market because there will never be a 'united Android share', which means it will most likely almost always hold the biggest marketshare).

I get what youre aiming at here but its not the diversification that would be risky. Its the fact that most non tech fields simply arent undervalued and leave not even close to as little room for development because they have been top dogs for ages. Apple will stay a safebet until an actual competition arrived on the mobile market and theres none in sight.

Interesting take.

M2 money velocity is a fucking joke these days. No wonder commodities are tanking.

If they raise rates though, the economy will be kill again...

They are certainly in a tight spot. Personally... as the worlds reserve currency - I'm just going to go ahead and say it - I don't see what's wrong with a little deflation. US Currency should be fucking valuable... that's why it's THE reserve currency.

Janet ain't gonna spur money velocity and inflation by doing anything at this point. The US is the world safe haven for cash... and rich people parking shit in safe havens don't spend their money and don't contribute to velocity.

That's why I am happy apple has 178 billion bucks worth of cash.
