Watch 1min candles so you get the most accurate picture. In reality when ever someone asks me about investing, i tell them download a portfolio app, pick what coins you want to buy and watch them for a week or two before they buy. Then i tell them to read up on what blockchain tech is. Cointelegraph has a great introductory section on it.
