Once any REAL volume comes, which ChainLink has not once seen yet, it will truly *begin* to explode. Just like Ethereum. Do yourselves a favor and just have patience this one time in your life. Even if we're all wrong and it fails, it's one of those situations where the reward outweighs the risk by a large margin.

Not just that. But the nodes will allow for trustless smartcontracts, which ensures that the terms of the contract is executed exactly as stated.

Decentralized oracles is what keeps the financial world from utilizing smartcontracts in the first place. When a centralized oracle can fuck you over, the whole point of smartcontracts evaporates.

smart contracts are functionally cucked if they have no way to bring in data from the outside world onto the blockchain. there is one way to bring in that data, and that is an "oracle". an oracle is middleware between the blockchain and the outside world.

the "oracle problem" is how can we trust an oracle is providing correct data to a smart contract? chainlink solved this by decentralizing the oracles; where consensus had to be reached between the many oracles on a certain data point, so the smart contract can be certain the information it is recieving is correct. correct data (aka 51% of nodes agreeing) means those nodes get paid a fee in LINK and the nodes that provided the wrong data get paid nothing (or even banned/fined from the network).

so now if i code a smart contract that needs to know the price of google stock at midday on monday, and i get 200 oracles telling me its $273.00 per and 10 oracles telling me its $3.50, i can be pretty sure its $273.00.

Accessing Off-Chain data requires an Oracle to translate this data into a "Language" the Chain understands.
This oracle needs to be trusted to deliver the right data.
THIS is the oracle problem.
Chainlink solves it by using a network of decentralized oracles and reaching a consensus among them ( very simplified obviously)

A smart contract is a digital contract that automatically executes after certain conditions are met. It follows the IF>THIS>THEN>THAT logic. The problem is these contracts are hackable and therefore pretty useless. Having smart contracts on the blockchain solves this, but limits smart contracts to the blockchain only. Basically the only thing they are good for is 'If you send x amount of tokens to this address, I'll send you back x amount of this token'. Getting off chain data (literally anything) onto the blockchain is done by an oracle, however oracles have always been centralised, meaning they are hackable and therefore pretty useless. ChainLink is a decentralised oracle, and therefore trustless.

Since you thought solving the oracle problem had anything to do with using BTC as a currency, I'll use an example I saw yesterday which dumbs it down to the kindergarden level:

>You and a friend bet on a football game
>You make a contract which states that if your team wins, you get $100. If his team wins, he gets $100
>None of you get to watch the game live
>The day after you check a website which says your team won
>Your friend checks another website which says his team won
>Woah! But who won the bet?
>What if the contract was connected to decentralized oracles which does not feed bad information?

With ChainLink in place, the nodes would automatically transfer reliable information to the contract right after the game. And the contract would send $100 to you or $100 to your friend.

Now imagine this with derivatives or insurance. Which is where it is most likely to be adopted.

What? One of the main points of a diverse token/coin based economy is that you will be able to buy anything with any coin by means of intant super cheap trades. Say you contributed to web hosting on your computer so you're given a webhosting coin that you can use to utilize other's computers but you don't need that so next time you ride the bus you pay with that token because somebody else wants to utilize your computer. Half of /biz/ don't even understand the fundamentals of Ethereum anymore. We've been overrun by actual retards.

Half the time when someone tries to argue against LINK and its usage, they're actually arguing against Ethereum and its smartcontracts.

Brainlets will never learn.

>I don't chase the market anymore and have 'retired' to LINK

This is the best way to word how I've felt the past couple of weeks -- I've effectively stopped swing trading and am just hodling, waiting for the moon that I'm convinced is coming this year.

Feels good senpai.

Okay Linkies, I believe you. ChainLink will connect everything via SmartContract, I get it.

But no offense, what is your honest opinion about the upcoming ACT fork to ABTC, which will be the first Bitcoin which enables Smart contracts?
And also what is your opinion about Hashgraph?

Way too little way too late. ETH has first mover's advantage on extensible and safe/effective smart contracts.

not possible. only 1/3 of all Link is in circulation. Even if all 1/3rd was instantly sold, nodes would carry it. It is scalable on fees based on value. Node operators would just instantly be paid more Link. now do you realize how much thought went into this and why it will succeed?

It’s dipping right now though along with every other alt, if it dips below $1.10 I would buy desu, but that’s me. Really LINK could be anywhere between $10 and $1000 this time next year. The market cap is there, all it needs is the right nudge into the mainstream and it’ll be picked up by the river of normies and investors alike faster than you can say kike.
