How you know what you're buying without any technical indicator. Price is an indicator. Ticker symbol is an indicator. Bid is an indicator. Offer is. Thanks for clarifying you've never invested in your life.

I'm a value investor, so I don't need to check the charts very often. I do my research into a company and watch it grow, along with my investment. This way, I can feel secure and comfortable at all times in my investments, because I only invest in companies with real value, which I purchase at a discount for a margin of safety.

Also, this.

Technical analysis is the opposite of fundamental analysis. Technical analysis follows only the price changes of a company. A technical analyst might never look at a company's balance sheet or earnings reports, but only at a screen like the one in the OP. A technical analyst thinks he can jump on and off trends at just the right time.

Whereas a fundamental analyst (closely tied to a value investor) looks at the fundamentals of a company. This way we know what we are purchasing, as opposed to going to the "biggest gains today" screen and buying whatever is the next "hot stock".

Each time you check a screen like that, you receive impulses to action. This is a great way to lose money.

Make sound investments in companies you know will grow that you can purchase at a discount, and you will be a successful investor.

God this is just fucking ridiculous.

>let me use all these complex models and cause myself all this anxiety
>I know that studies have shown fundamental analysis and value investing to be successful and in almost every single scenario have shown technical analysis and growth investing inferior
>but MUH CHARTS

understanding the mechanics of trading/investing =/= technical analysis

tech analysis will, every single time, net you worse returns than fundamental

tech analysis will, on average, underperform the market unless you have divine knowledge of the future

read a fucking book

im done ranting
