Here's my take on it: most of the use cases are not ones you will ever know or see or hear about, because the tech is B2B aka it's what sits behind user-facing companies.

Of course if you're a dev, you can build with it, but for most people you will never know that Unchained sits behind whatever app you're using.

Eg:
Xbox Cloud Gaming and competitors currently run the game virtually at some datacenter, record the screen, compress it and send it to you as an image file simulating "real time" gaming.

With Unchained the game would run on your native client in the network and it's the actual game running, not a screenshot.

You wouldn't know the difference except for the latency being better.

Same with Spotify - they could switch to Unchained overnight to reduce their infrastructure costs.

Netflix/Photo Storage/Cloud Storage benefit from elastic access to distributed storage at a lower price and at a greater geographic distribution.

Anything that is currently relying on AWS can move over to save significantly more in direct costs (maybe this is you) as well as add reliability, decentralisation and distribution benefits.

eg: Server X which can service 1k requests at once, and then you need to have a load balancer calculate when to go to the next level up on Server Y which can service 3k requests at once, and then when you get hit by some random traffic your server has to struggle to expand and substract to deal with traffic.

With Unchained you have to do none of this because the network handles it per request - you're paying 100% of the time for things you are ONLY using. Paying for a server that does 1k requests while you're only doing 500 means you're losing 50% of your infra costs to idleness.

Now you as a node/token holder can benefit from all of that above by providing hardware and tokens to secure the network.

In other words, Microsoft/Spotify/AWS/Whoever paying you for your hardware rather than the other way around.

For the little dev, the thing I mentioned about about paying "per request" is key, because it means if you have 500 users making 500 requests, you pay for 500 requests.
If you have 10k users making 10k requests, you pay for 10k requests.
If you can cache 90% of those requests so that you have 10k users making 1k requests, you are saving 90% of your money.
In traditional computing, you are renting a server with X capacity, and whether you use 10%, 50%, or 90% of it, you're still paying 100% of the cost of that server.

For the little guy without a datacenter behind it, it allows you to use your old hardware to provide resources to the network that get you paid.

Eg: you plug your phone in to charge overnight.... well why not provide the idle CPU/GPU power to the network to pay for the cost of charging it?

You've got a NAS that runs 24/7 but you are only using it to watch shows for an hour a night? Why not provide the other 23 hours of capacity to the network and help offset the costs of your HDD?

You've got a gaming computer with a 4090 but you're at work? Why not put your computer to work for you in the network and earn extra cash?

Or if you're just a token holder, then delegate those tokens to someone with a bunch of hardware, let them do all the work, and you take a cut of the revenue.

The tech is exactly where the industry is going to head towards, but it's still early enough that you can get in without it being mainstream. Because believe me, once a large enterprise on-boards, which is what the company is currently angling towards, you will simply not see these prices ever again.
